“Let me guess…Silver. Is he worried about you?” The sarcasm drips from his voice.
“Jealous?” I ask, arching a brow.
Archer snickers. “Of him. He knows as well as you and me, Scar, that you’re mine. Always have been, always will be.”
“So arrogant and self-assured. Be careful Savage. One day, someone will throw you a curveball and knock that smug expression right off your pretty face.”
“Glad you think so,” he replies dryly as we pull away from the lodge.
“I bet I could knock the wind out from under you right now,” I tell him, my anger getting the better of me.
He doesn’t rise to it; he simply offers me a lazy smile. “Go on then.”
It’s on the tip of my tongue to tell him I’m carrying his child, but I reign in my emotions. I give him the finger before I turn my attention to the dark night outside my window.
I don’t speak for the rest of the journey. Rafe calls Vee and lets her know we all won’t be at school for the next two days and I hear him tell her I’m with them. He sighs at whatever she is saying to him down the phone. “Yeah, yeah, I know. We’ll look after her. Of course. She’s one of us now, whether she likes it or not.”
I smirk at him through the rear-view mirror. One of them. I’ll never be one of them. They’ll never truly let me in.
“Where are we flying to?” I ask, no longer able to curb my curiosity.
“London,” Archer replies.
“And what’s in London?” I ask, seeing as he appears to suddenly be in a sharing mood.
“Trouble, Scar. That’s what’s in London. This weekend I need you to do exactly as I say, okay?”
As he looks at me, I study him. I can see that he’s unsettled about me going on this mission and that has my anxiety levels up. “I’ll be on my best behaviour.”
His lips quirk up at the corner. “That was a little too easy.”
The private jet flies us into London and I’m honestly exhausted by the time our driver drops us at the apartment block. Of course, the Aces have housing in London and, of course, it’s the penthouse suite of an apartment block that gives you a superb view of London.
No one prepared me for how tiring early pregnancy is. I have been sleeping a lot and when I haven’t been sleeping, I’ve been tired and constantly yawning.
“This is extravagant,” I comment as I stand in the middle of the open plan living space and take in the floor to ceiling glass windows that show off London at night. The place looks like something you’d see on the cover of a magazine or the type of place I’ve imagined a movie star staying in.
“Only the best is good enough,” Seb says, throwing himself down on a very large and comfortable looking leather sofa. Across from it is a media wall like no other with a gorgeous wrap around fireplace.
“So, what’s the plan?” I ask as I watch Archer walk over to what looks to be like a control panel and start tapping lots of buttons.
“We party tonight, Little Red. We can’t come to London and not enjoy the nightlife.”
I shake my head, yawning. “You guys can party all you like, but I need a bed and sleep.”
Seb rolls his eyes and tuts at me. “When did you become such a bore?”
Since I started growing a baby inside me and it’s taking all my energy, I want to say, but I just grin at him and stick my tongue out. “It’s late, and it’s a weeknight. You party away. I, however, am getting changed and going to sleep.”
“Suit yourself. Shall we say ready in fifteen guys?”
Archer moves to the kitchen, and he grabs two cups out of the cupboard. “I’m with Scar on this one. But you guys go ahead.”
Seb snickers as he walks past Archer and pats him on the shoulder. “Aw, mum and dad want the place to themselves. I get it. I fucked a girl up against that very window the last time I was here. There’s something so fucking hot about being so exposed but knowing that no one can actually see you. Plus, I got to admire the sights of London whilst nutting her.”
I scrunch my face up. “You’re disgusting and I now cannot look at that window and enjoy the view without that image in my head.” I point a finger at him. “And stop calling us mum and dad. We’re not together and there will be no sex.”
Seb sighs and shakes his head in disappointment. “Still in denial, I see. We all know you’re addicted to our boy here. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. I mean, we all know what he’s packing down there and, well, if I was a girl, I’d be the same.”
