Archer cocks a brow and stares my way.
“What?”
“So, you’re mine when it suits.”
My answer is to give him the finger, which has Seb chuckling again. “Ladies, let me escort you to the lift. I have a driver waiting in the foyer to take you home. Thank you for a truly memorable evening.”
The brunette looks over her shoulder as they leave. “Call me anytime,” she says, her eyes focused on Archer. Archer’s answer is to smirk and shake his head before returning his attention to his phone.
I glare after her. Who does she think she is, propositioning him when she’s just been told his fiancée is in the room? Classy girl!
“Earth to Eliza,” Rafe says, waving his hand in front of my face.
I blink and give him daggers as I take my coffee from him. He’s grinning at me like he knows that I’m pissed off at that girl. “You’ll get used to that. He gets it all the time.”
“I bet,” I say dryly. I can deny it all I want, but Archer is a gorgeous guy. He commands a room when he walks in it. Of course, he has women falling at his feet. I cup my coffee between my hands and turn my attention to the man himself. “Why did you tell Vee I wasn’t up for this job?”
Archer slowly looks up from his phone and looks at me. “Because you’re not doing it.”
I place the cup down on the island and I fold my arms across my chest. “Why aren’t I doing the job?”
He sighs, as if he doesn’t want to discuss this. “Because I don’t want you doing the job.”
“Do the Elders know you are bringing Vee in to do what they ordered of me?”
He places his phone down and gives me his full attention, his dark eyes capturing mine. “They won’t find out. As far as they will ever know, you did the job, and you passed your first test of loyalty.”
“What’s the job?”
“Like I said, it doesn’t matter, as you’re not doing it. You can stay here tonight and enjoy some take away and Netflix.”
I scoff. “Yeah, not happening, mate.”
Shaking his head, he gets to his feet and goes to make himself another coffee. Determined not to let up, I follow behind him and when he turns, I’m practically standing toe to toe with him.
“What’s the job?” I ask him, placing my hands on my hips and placing a hand on his chest to keep him where he is.
“This conversation is over,” he growls, glaring down at me.
Seb strolls back into the room, so I use the opportunity. “Seb, what was my role in tonight’s job?”
“Titty dancer, Little Red. The Elders needed you to be a lap dancer for a certain politician.”
Archer tuts and I turn to see him glaring across the room at Seb. Seb shrugs his shoulders at him, then winks at me. “Archer didn’t want you getting your girls out in front of strange men, Little Red. He wants your awesome tits all to himself.”
“I’m doing the job,” I say firmly. “We don’t need Vee. I’m more than capable.”
Archer half-smirks. “Have you ever given anyone a lap dance before, Scar? You need to look like you know what you’re doing.”
“Oh, and Vee knows what she’s doing, does she?”
Rafe grins, staring off out of the window. “She sure does.”
“Stop with your lurid thoughts of my sister,” Seb orders him, throwing a tea towel at Rafe.
“Vee is professionally dance trained. You’re not. She’s a better fit for this job,” Archer insists.
“Bullshit,” I hiss, jabbing my forefinger in his chest. “You’re just a possessive arsehole who doesn’t want another man seeing my tits. They’re just boobs, Archer. It’s no big deal.”
