“Eros,” Sunshine says, her lips tipped in a dazed smile.
“Sunshine. Wow. Look at you. So amazing.” I have to admit, Nico and Holter are good for her. She reaches for me. “They’ve got you.” I stand back and watch for a minute.
Nico tips his head at the counter. Lube from a kit. I toss him the tube.
I pull her hair back and take her chin between my thumb and forefinger and turn her head to mine. “Sunshine.” Her lips taste of it. Sunshine. She’s all mine, all ours. Fuck, this female is perfect. She has one arm around Holter’s neck and the palm with our mark in the middle of my chest. I press my hand on top of hers, holding it to my heart. I’m going to miss her.
But the truth is, I don’t expect to come back. I just hope they let my sister go after they kill me.
I swallow down her moan. Nico’s huge cock is in her ass. I let go of her head and take a step back. She grips Holter’s shoulders, steadying herself. Holter’s all that keeps Nico from driving her into the counter.
“That’s it, Belle.” Holter’s got his hand between them. “Come for us.”
Fuck, I want to jump up on the counter and ram my cock down her throat, but watching is almost better. “You’re so good, Sunshine. Come for them. I pull her hair to the side and suck on the mark I gave her. She screams, her body convulsing and bouncing between Holter and Nico. Damn, I want her. She’s limp and exhausted. Nico cleans her up as Holter holds her. If this is the last time I’m going to be with my mate, I don’t want it to be standing in a puddle of cake batter, but I lean in and kiss her anyway. I put everything I can into it. And when she reaches for my cock, I take a step back. It’s the hardest step I’ve ever taken.
“Eros?” She lifts her head from Holter’s chest.
“Yes.”
“Why did that feel like you’re trying to say goodbye?”
I laugh, but I can’t look her in the eyes. Instead, I focus on her forehead. I can’t do this. Pretend there is nothing wrong. Not with her. Not with my pod. I shake my head.
“What are you not telling our mate, Eros?” Nico growls.
My eyes flick to Holter, but I’m not finding any support from him. I run my hand down her arm and let it settle on her hip. “I went to the Vitrom governor. I told him I was done.” I shake my head at my arrogance. “Stupidity. I don’t know how I thought I could swim in there and be free. They knew I was coming. Knew I was going to try and make a break. It’s possible they knew I was keeping evidence against them—not that I believe it will do any good. It’s in my apartment. In the library. The book is labeledPiscium Secreta.” The Secrets of Fish. I chuckled when I put it in there. I’m not laughing now.
Nico tilts his head at Sunshine. “We stopped by your place earlier. Someone had trashed it. But the library was safe.”
Now it’s me tilting my head at Nico and Holter.
“We wanted to use the translator machine for the book you gave me. The one that was Richeal Callis’s. There’re handwritten notes in a language we couldn’t detect. The machine could read it, but it said we didn’t have clearance.”
“Did you use the code written on the side of it?”
“No.”
I cock my head.
“You leave a high-level security clearance written on a piece of tech?” Nico is off the counter and has a new tunic pulled over his angry bulging muscles.
“When it’s not tech you’ve stolen or your clearance, what does it matter?”
“I suppose he has a point.” Holter stands.
“Oh.” Sunshine is surprised.
“You should go try again. After I leave. Turn the light on to make it look like I’m coming and going. Oh, that’s perfect. You can dress Holter up as me.”
“I’m not wearing your clothes.”
“Afraid of not wearing blue and gold for one day?”
“No, your clothes stink.”
“Holter, Eros smells good.” Sunshine takes a whiff of my chest.
“To you maybe,” Holter growls. “We’ll work out a solution that doesn’t have me wearing your clothes.”
