“Hello, Evan.” A challenge burns in my eyes as I cock my head. “I’m not going to let you win.” My voice is surprisingly steady, indicating a bravado I don’t feel.

“No?” He cocks his head, taking a slow, menacing step closer. “I always win, Lexi.”

“Not this time.” I throw myself into the corn stalks, trying to climb through them to get to the other side and end up on the trail again, but his strong hands grip me, roughly pulling me back.

“Nuh-uh, mi amore. You can’t escape me.”

I struggle against his hold, falling forward and catching myself with my hands. I kick at him, but he anticipates it. His grip is firm on my ankle, knocking me onto my stomach and pulling me toward him. My hands clutch at the corn stalks, my eyes squeezed shut as they hit my face, making me itch, but my efforts are in vain.

He’s breathing heavily as he drags me back to the clearing. I open my eyes, the dead end ahead mocking me.

Tugging my head back, his masked face is beside my left ear. “Your fear is intoxicating, bellissima.” He flips me over onto my back so fast the world spins as my breath rushes out of me. “You can’t escape me, Lexi. You’remine.”

You’d think what happened to me a few days ago would rear its ugly head, but it doesn’t. The trust I place in this man is unlike anything I’ve ever given anyone.

I give everything to him. Every single broken, traumatized piece of me.

LIGHT AND DARKNESS

Evan

Though Lexi struggles and bucks against me, I have her clothing off in record time. Pinning her arms above her head, I use my belt to bind them as she kicks and screams. I watch her carefully, looking for any signs she’s experiencing trauma. But the only thing I see is desire burning in her mocha eyes, her fantasies and kinks colliding together beneath the Harvest moon.

I lean over her, breathing in the intoxicating scent of her fear. “Your safe word is Halloween.”

She grins at me, staring into my eyes intently as I peer at her from behind the mask. “I won’t need it.”

A raspy chuckle comes from me as I grin down at her, the mask preventing her from seeing it. “Such a cocky little thing, aren’t you.” Spreading her legs wide, I slide my weight over hers.

“Evan,” she pants, her hands gliding over my back muscles. “I want you.”

Pushing my torso away from hers, my finger glides down her chest, goosebumps erupting over her skin. Her breaths rasp in and out of her lungs from exertion and excitement as my finger trails to her lower belly before working my way back up. “I figured out pretty quickly that I couldn’t walk away from you, Lexi. Still, I had one worry.”

She holds her breath, biting her lip as she stares at me, fear dimming the excitement in her eyes. “What worry?”

“That my darkness would extinguish your light.”

A smile spreads across her face as she releases the breath she was holding. “Not possible. Your darkness enhances mine, and my light illuminates yours.” Her hand moves to my chest. “Think about how different you are from when I first met you.”

I grin. “I know. You proved me wrong.” My hand slides to her breast, teasing her nipple before I pinch it, making her hips buck from the ground. “We were made for one another, weren’t we?”

She frantically nods, her eyes darkening.

“And judging by how your body reacts to me chasing you in this Ghostface mask, I’ve brought things out of you that you didn’t know existed.”

Her pulse beats against her neck, breathing ragged. “You do.” Her gaze rakes down my chest, making me shiver. “You seduce my darkness, Evan. Awakening desires I didn’t know I had. But you’re so much more than that. I’m here, in this maze, using my fantasies to replace the trauma of what happened in the restroom and what they wanted to do to me tonight because of you. My hero.”

My chuckle is vile, full of wickedness. “I’m no hero, mi amore. But I’myours. And I’ll fucking do anything for you. Anyone who hurts you will suffer before they meet their fate.”

She nods, flames burning in her mocha eyes. “Please ravage my body now.” She arches against me, her thighs squeezing me. “I need those jeans off, Evan. I needyou.”

“Tsk, tsk, bellissima. So demanding.” I pull back, my fingers dipping lower, sliding slowly and torturously over her wetness.

“Stop fucking torturing me,” she snaps, her eyes flashing. “Just… Punish me, please.”

“You think you’re in control here? That you can order me around.” My hand wraps around her throat, squeezing tight but not cutting off her air. She wiggles, struggling against the restraint binding her wrists together.
