“Just tell me,” I press.
“Ruined,” she says.
“What?”
“The theme of tonight’s party is Ruined,” she stresses. “I’m guessing you can replace the ruined with defiled. From the text message it promises dirty as fuck fun.”
“Wow,” I nod slowly, taking in the full weight of her words. “I don’t think I can keep up with a theme like that. That’s a hell of a lot of pressure and I might turn out to be a huge disappointment for an unsuspecting guy,” I say, fear and worry tightening my stomach.
“It’s been a while for you, Jules—”
“More like a very long while,” I correct.
“Not that I want to rub your face in it, but you could technically pass as a born again virgin.”
“Glad to see you’re on my side,” I sneer. “Now I’m even more worried.”
“Don’t be,” she says. “I found out via one of the theme party organizers I’ve befriended, the men at Dark Compulsion are domineering alphas—”
“What does that even mean?”
“It means, your job is to surrender and let go.”
“Oh.”
“Do this for yourself, Jules,” Syd continues. “For one night, forget about everything that’s weighing heavy on you and spend the evening with a man who will do all sorts of lewd things to your body and blow your mind.”
“Oh,” I repeat because, Holy Jesus, that sounds so wrong, yet so right.
I chew the inside of my mouth, pondering on her revelation.
Maybe my shattered self could use a respite for one night.
“Even if I agree to come with you—not that I’ve decided yet—I have nothing to wear,” I complain.
“Oh, girlfriend, I have you covered,” Syd grins.
Of course, she does.
Chapter 2
Jules
So here we are on the precipice of a sinful night in a setting that screams decadent temptation.
We step into the Quintus Hotel’s lobby. Sydney wants to give me a tour before we head to Dark Compulsion.
“Dear God, this is magnificent.” My eyes bounce from left to right as I attempt to soak in the opulence surrounding me. So, this is how the other half lives. Nice. Very nice. “The décor is so lavish,” I add. Talk about being Alice in Wonderland
“The best part is, we belong,” she motions a finger up and down the length of her body before doing the same to me.
I can’t even argue with her. “We do,” I agree with a firm head nod.
“We clean up pretty nicely, kiddo,” she winks.
“It helps to be connected to the right people,” I wink back.
“It doesn’t hurt one bit,” she flashes me a sly grin.
