Page 56 of Touch Me

“Ha! Yes, you do love it.” She claps.

“Of course I do. What’s not to love? Hot Scots with accents. And in kilts. Who knew knees could be so sexy?” I shove my straw angrily in my mouth and suck until there’s a blinding pain behind my eyes. “I hate you.”

She juts out her bottom lip and teases, “Aww, someone needs some D.”

“Well, I was fine before taking your advice. Now I’m a walking, talking hormone without enough batteries.”

“So just bang him. What’s the harm?” Jen asks.

“It’s just sex. You don’t have to marry him,” Alex cuts in.

“I know that.” I narrow my eyes at him. “But he isn’t like that.”

“He’s a guy with a penis, correct?” Alex asks.

“Yes, Alex. He’s a guywith a penis. A decent one, if your sweatpants theory holds any merit.”

Ashley holds her hands up, coercing me into a high five.

“Then he’s like that,” Alex says.

“No, you don’t understand. He’s different. He’s quiet. And shy. He isn’t the quick fling kind of guy.”

I can’t reveal Jace's secrets to them. He trusted me with the knowledge. It would make my hesitancy more understandable to these three, but I can’t do that to him.

“Maybe you need to crank the sexy factor up a bit,” Jen suggests.

Three pairs of eyes study me, waiting for the moment I concede. I can already hear the encouragement.

Get it, mama.

Ride that D.

“I really don’t think that’s a good idea.”

The day has been busy enough to keep my fantasies at bay, but just the mention of him has my mind conjuring all kinds of rodeo scenarios, and I now I’m wondering if Jace knows how to tie a good knot to make sure I’m restrained for any reason he may see fit. Even if he could, which he can’t, it would seriously complicate things. But they don’t need to know that. I’ll just act like I’m not interested, and hopefully they’ll drop it.

Alex turns to face me in the booth. “Flirt with me.”

Ok, maybe not.

I turn to him and blink a few times. “What?”

“Flirt with me.” He grins and winks. “Show me what you got.”

I scoff and wave him off. “This is stupid. And unnecessary.”

“It’s not stupid. You need to get laid, and you have a perfectly single sexy guy living in the same house. We’re doing this.” Ashley nods and squares her shoulders.

I think I’m losing this battle.

So I’ll play along and listen to their advice and then tell them it didn’t work. No harm done.

“Well, I can’t wink. I’ve never been able to,” I admit.

“That’s fine. How about biting your lip?” Jen asks.

“Biting my lip?”
