“Yes, Sir.”

“Better. Did you know there are different kinds of Dominants? For example, there are the Daddy Doms, as some call them. They’re more nurturing and like to take care of their boys. Their littles. Any of those Doms would love to have someone like you.”

“Like me? But not you, though, huh?”

“Connor, I’m entirely wrong for you.”

“Why? I’m not a little. I mean, to each his own, but I know that’s not for me.”

“Then why did you enter the contest?”

“I don’t know. A Christmas gift and a party sounded nice.”

“It will be nice, and you can still come. It might hold more interest for you than you imagine.”

I shook my head, looking down at my lap.

“I’d never want to take the chance of hurting you, Connor. I agree that you may not be a little. I’m not even sure you’re a proper submissive. But most of all, you’re at the beginning of this journey, and you need to find out about yourself. I’ve been involved in it for years at a much different level than I think you’d enjoy. We’re entirely unsuitable for each other.”

“Does that mean you can’t just have regular sex?”

“No, of course, I can. But I wouldn’t enjoy it as much. And I wouldn’t want to hurt you.”

“You already said that. You wouldn’t.”

“You don’t know that, and I’d never take the chance. Look, did you get your invitation to the Christmas party? From the contest?”

“That’s the teddy bear thing, right? I haven’t checked my email for a few days.”

“The party is on the Friday before Christmas. The day after tomorrow. It’s a kind of meet and greet to gauge interest in the club.”

“I know. You said so, but I don’t think it’s for me.”

“I don’t think you really know what you need. I think you should come and just explore the possibilities. It will be a chance for you to meet the members and also to let them get to know you. The whole purpose is to see if you might be a fit. You may not like it, and you may find the scene is not for you. Worst case scenario, you’ll get some free food and meet some nice people.”

“I don’t know. Maybe.”

“I do have to warn you that the man who chose your name had to unexpectedly change his plans... something came up, and he’s in another relationship now.”

“Story of my life.”

“Connor…”

“No, it’s okay. I understand.”

“Will you still go?” When I didn’t say anything right away, he rushed ahead. “If you’d like to attend, I’ll have Richards pick you up.”

“I don’t know. Maybe.”

“I’ll call you ahead of time to see, okay? And in the meantime, there must be someone you could stay with for a few days.”

“There really isn’t. I can go back home.”

“No, that’s no solution. I’ll have Richards take you to a hotel this afternoon and put you up for a few days. Maybe you’ll decide you’d like to get more involved at the club with the littles group. If not, you have nothing to lose, right?”

“You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll be all right. I always am. And you don’t owe me anything. Certainly not an expensive hotel room. We both know that.”

A knock came on his bedroom door, and he called out to tell whoever it was to come in. A maid stood there with my clothes and shoes in her hands. “Excuse me, sir, but I have your friends’ clothing and his shoes. And Mr. Richards said to let you know the sun has come out, and the weather forecasters say that the storms are beginning to clear out. The roads should be cleared soon.”
