“What are you still doing here?” I asked, annoyed. The last thing I wanted to do was talk to her.
“Waiting for you,” she shrugged and began following me. “I know Mr. Geller must have been really hard on you.”
“No shit,” I replied sarcastically, “My ass is on the line. He says I’m going to lose the captainship if I don’t fix my grades.”
Her lips curved into a devious smile. “Oh, well. I told you. I can help you.”
At this point, I felt desperate to receive any help that I could get.
“Fine,” I huffed. “I’ll do it.”
Her eyes lit up instantly. “Really?”
“I’m going to regret it,” I sighed. “But I’ll do it. I have no other options. Tell me more about this crazy plan of yours.”
She clapped her hands together in excitement and tugged at my sleeve, pulling me with her. “Not here. Anyone can hear us. It’s top secret.”
She led me down to an empty classroom. Closing the door behind her, she finally came back and folded her arms out in front of her chest.
“So, I’ll make you get the best grades you’ve ever gotten if you agree to be my pretend boyfriend.”
“Yeah, yeah,” I said dismissively. “I’m not too sold on the grades part, though. How do I know I can trust you?”
She let out an amused chuckle. “Bryan, I’ve never gotten a B in my entire life. Trust me, I can transform your entire life.”
“And I’ve never eaten lunch alone,” I shot back, playing at my strengths. “I can probably transform your social life.”
“Exactly,” she grinned. “So, do we have a deal?”
I took on her extended hand and shook it. If I was going to do this, then I was going to go all in.
“Deal.”
Chapter 7
Romai
I smoothed out the creases in my shirt and braced myself for a new journey ahead. Standing outside Bryan’s house, I had finally arrived for his first one-on-one tutoring session. I extended my arm to knock on the door, but it swung open before I even had a chance.
“How did you….”
“CCTV cameras,” he flashed me a grin, and I nearly melted on the spot. Clad in a casual white tee and a pair of shorts, he looked effortlessly gorgeous.
Get a grip. You’re here to teach him, not fawn over how hot he is.
“Have you been sitting in front of the screen waiting for me to come?” I teased, hoping that he hadn’t caught on to the fact that I had been secretly checking him out.
“You wish,” he laughed as he led me inside his huge house. The floors were covered in white marble, and the walls were lined with modern art. “I almost forgot you were even coming.”
“No, you didn’t,” I said as we took a seat on his living room sofa. He sprawled out on the big grey cushions while I sat delicately with my legs crossed on the edge. “Face it, Bryan. You need me just as much as I need you. You wouldn’t be here if that wasn’t the case.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he rolled his eyes. “I just need to pass my exams.”
I began to look around his house. Even though it was huge, it seemed… empty.
“Where’s the rest of your siblings?”
“Siblings?” he raised an eyebrow and then shrugged his shoulders. “Don’t have them.”
