“Ah, yeah?”
Even I’m chuckling now. What a moron.
“You really think the one with the sling on her shoulder and more clothes on than any vamp has ever had on in this place is a dick sucker? And even if she was, obviously she’s injured, and I don’t know about you, but my mama taught me to treat women with respect, which includes finding a willing woman to suck you off. But I’m getting the feeling not many are ever willing.”
Okay, so maybe this Kooper guy isn’t so bad. I mean, he’s standing up for me. Well, sort of. I feel a little insulted that I don’t come across as a pro dick sucker, but I feel like that’s not the point here. I’ve really got to get my priorities straight. Do I want to be sucking dick and look like I can do it like a pro, or should I be more concerned about my virtue? Wait, do I even have one? I really need to get my memory back.
“And the other? The one with the pink-and-black hair? Think of her like a black widow. She’s the fucking original princess in this club. And no one, no fucking person, disrespects her. She knows the rules, so she wouldn’t do this unless it’s warranted, and the fact that you treated her, Law’s daughter, like trash and called her one, too, you’re lucky he doesn’t know. Yet. He’ll skin you alive, and I’ll lend him the knife to do it. Take your friend, leave the patches. You’re both out.”
“Come on, man. It was a simple mistake. How the fuck was I to know? I never met her before.”
“Should have thought about that before you put your foot in your mouth. And let me clue you in on something. Her picture is around the clubhouse. At every event, she’s there. Each time a family gathering occurs, she’s there. So don’t give me that shit that you didn’t know who she was. If you paid attention, you would have known. Now get out before I throw you out.”
“But look how she dresses! It was a complete accident. It’s not my fault, man. Give me another chance. I want this so bad.”
And now there are two on the ground again. Wow, I never even saw that punch coming, and I was looking for it, because the guy was pissing me off. Talk about quick reflexes.
“Fuck! Prospects!” Kooper bellows both at equal frequencies, and three guys show up, one being my other bestie, Gator. I wiggle my fingers at him, and he just arches an eyebrow.
“Take out the trash.” Kooper kicks the guy he hit and walks away.
“Never a dull moment with you, is it?” Gator grunts as he starts to take off the cuts of the former prospects.
“This one wasn’t my fault,” I protest.
“It was mine,” Ruby chimes in, not even a little sorrow in her voice.
“If it ain’t one, it’s the other,” he murmurs as he continues to work, not even sparing us a look. “Try not to become best friends, will you? I got a feeling it won’t be good for the club.”
Ruby and I share a look.
Too late.
Chapter 13 – Julianne
“O
h my God, your hands are amazing,” I moan.
A sultry laugh echoes in the otherwise silent bedroom. “That’s what she said.”
I involuntarily snort—so not sexy. Good thing it’s just Ruby and me here. I think my already very limited hotness points would have dwindled with the way I made a pig sound. But good to know I can do it.
See, I’m all for taking the good with the bad here. How else am I going to learn about myself?
“Break it down for me. How does this amnesia thing work?” she says as she works out another kink in my neck. Physical therapy and a massage? My day is looking up.
“I have no idea. They tried to tell me at the hospital, but I honestly just tuned them out ’cause I was mad for being there so long for nothing. They basically needed like four hours of my life to stamp a seal of approval on the first thing I realized when I woke up at the bottom of the hill yesterday—that I know nothing.”
“Well, at least you ain’t still losing your mind. So it’s not like in the movies where every day you forget who you are or something.”
“What movie?”
“Oh yeah, sorry. Guess that could be kind of fun for you, though. You get to see movies for the first time again. Fall in love with the classics in a whole new way. Reread favorite books you have no idea were your favorites.”
“Or find out what I hate all over again. Actually, not sure I really want to go back to what I was.”
“Why’s that?”
