“Holy fuck, Faedra,” he murmurs, his hips stuttering for a heartbeat as he comes. He licks the sore spot on my neck, tangling his hand in my hair again as he grabs my hip, pulling me into him as he buries himself to the hilt a moment before a sudden pressure fills me.
Holy hell, his knot.
I cry out, trying to keep the sound pressed into his skin as his knot locking us together triggers a third, all-consuming orgasm that strips me of all thought. My fingers tingle and my mind empties, a rush of blistering sensation cascading through my body. I can’t help but wiggle, the pressure nearly overwhelming, stealing my breath.
Carter presses his lips to my ear. “Such a good Omega,” he whispers.
A mewl rises in my throat, and I push my lips harder against his skin in an attempt to hide the sound, a forgotten part of me screaming that anyone could find us if I’m too loud. His hand tightens on my hip as I try to squirm again, and he hums, flicking his thumb over my clit once. I collapse against him with a groan, my body over sensitized. He brushes his lips across my jaw.
“So good, little Omega. Ride it out with me,” he says, and I tighten my arms around him, pulling him to me until we’re completely flush. His voice is a rough mumble. “You take it so well. You make me so proud, little Omega.”
My thoughts drift away, swept up in the consuming sensation of Carter knotting with me, the minutes passing as I relax into him, his hand gentling on my hip and tracing up my spine. My eyes snap open as I hear the distinct click of his office door opening, worry replacing the weightless contentment. I rock my hips, testing his knot, and panic tightens my throat when I realize it’s nowhere close to releasing us.
Carter tangles his fingers into my hair and pulls me tighter against him, pressing my cheek into his chest and my nose into the hollow of his throat. His hand moves from my hip and plants firmly on the desk next to me as he twists us, adjusting us just enough that I can see the door out of the corner of my eye, his arm serving as a small block between me and whoever is about to ruin this moment between us.
“Carter?” I whisper, tears flooding my eyes and spilling down my cheeks. His hand tightens as he shakes his head.
Amanda’s harried voice filters through the small opening of the cracked door. “Ma’am, I told you that he’s currently unavailable.”
Nineteen
CARTER
“Carter’s never made me wait before, Amanda.” A woman’s voice carries across the room as the door opens wider, her voice cutting like a knife as she says my assistant’s name like it’s a disease. “I doubt he’ll start now.”
You have got to be fucking kidding me. I lean over Faedra, resting my chin on the crown of her head, using my body to cover her as much as possible. The door swings wide in the next second, Harper pushing past Amanda, shoving her into the door frame as she storms into my office, her dissatisfaction at having been slowed down evident in the cruel twist of her lips.
Amanda pales as she takes in how I’m wrapped around Faedra, her eyes wide as she covers her mouth. She flicks her gaze to me, and I give a subtle shake of my head.
Harper stumbles as she realizes I’m not alone, her gaze catching on Faedra’s hair before coasting across the rest of her body that I wasn’t able to hide, her lips twisting into a grimace as she takes in Faedra’s lean leg wrapped around my hip.
“What the hell?” she sputters, taking another step forward, crossing her arms. I growl, low in my throat, and she hesitates, pausing just inside the door. It only takes her a minute to recover, her surprise fading behind her cold exterior. “Get her the hell out of here. We have things to discuss.”
Faedra tips her face enough that she catches my gaze, her confusion evident. I adjust my hold in her hair so that Harper can’t see her before pressing my lips into a thin line, shaking my head once. She blows out a breath, her hands shaking where she has them pressed against my back.
“Get out, Harper,” I snarl, my gaze locked on Faedra, keeping her grounded as my knot still urges her into a state of bliss. “We have no appointment today.”
Harper, predictably, scoffs and waves the truth off, turning to Amanda, trying to push her out of the doorway so she can close the door. Amanda, thankfully, stands her ground.
“Harper,” I bark, my voice cutting across the room. She spins on her heel, her eyes wide at my unusual force. “The next time you barge past Amanda is the last time you get to see me at all. Am I clear?”
Now she hesitates, the first flash of her being unsure of the situation crossing her face. She runs a hand through her hair, shaking out her bangs before tucking the brunette pieces behind her ears, her eyes running over Faedra again.
“The rumors are true, then?” she asks, undeterred by my threat.
She takes a confident step forward, and Faedra presses harder into me, twisting so that her body is a barrier between me and the others, her nails digging into my back as she clenches her hands. A low growl builds in her throat, though she keeps her lips pressed to my sternum. She takes a deep breath before rubbing her face against me.
Fuck.
The last thing she should need to do right now is self-soothe. I need to get Harper out of here before Faedra does something that has her moving my knot and hurting herself.
“For fuck’s sake, Harper,” I snarl, curling over Faedra more, “get out.”
She stops, confusion breaking through the cruel mask she wears around anyone she thinks is close to me. Faedra presses harder into me, and I adjust my stance so I’m not knocked back on my heels. I mutter a curse as my knot presses deeper into her. Faedra’s whimper breaks through whatever bullshit is keeping Harper standing in front of me, and she gasps as she takes a half step back.
“You’re fucking an Omega?” Her voice raises, growing shrill, and the last bit of patience I still had snaps under the sound.
“I swear to God, Harper, if you don’t get out of my office right now, I will bury you and your company, the contract be damned,” I threaten, lowering my voice and threading it with a promise of violence that I know she’ll recognize. Goosebumps race up Faedra’s arms, and I tighten my hold on her in silent comfort.
