“Me too,” was all she could manage, her breath finally beginning to slow and deepen.

“If only we had longer.”

“I know,” she answered wistfully. “Though coming twice isn’t anything to complain about.”

“Only twice?” He nibbled her earlobe playfully.

“Only twice that mattered.”

“More next time, then.”

“I won’t say no to that.”

He moved away from her and picked up the shower gel before squirting the fresh, minty liquid into his hands. He began to wash her back, covering her skin with soap bubbles, then migrating to her breasts before moving down her body.

“There might be a third time if you keep that up,” she said as his soapy fingers moved over her mound.

He pulled her into him, her back against his chest. “Sounds like a challenge.”

Tamaska laughed, wrapping her arms behind his head. “What can I say? You bring out the best in me.”

“Then I’d better bring it out.”

She sighed as his fingers moved between her folds. Moisture pooled quickly, her body ready and willing. Her breath quickened, and her hips moved to his rhythm. He wound her up until the tension was so tight, she spiraled out of control, her body shuddering with pleasure.

“Three.” He smirked when she turned to face him.

Tamaska kissed him gently, sucking on his lower lip. Their lips moved together, begging to stay like that for a moment longer.

Eventually, Kodiak pulled away. “I reckon we’re going to run out of water soon.”

He turned off the shower, leaned out, and grabbed a towel for her. She took it, drying herself quickly as he found another towel.

Wrapped in dry cloth, they left the bathroom to lay on the bed.

“How long do we have?” she asked, snuggling into Kodiak. She needed to ask so many questions, and she needed to tell him about her research. But here in his arms, she didn’t care about those details. All she wanted was to have Kodiak to herself, with no other worries.

“A few hours, maybe less.”

Her heart sank a little.

“Hey, at least we put our time to good use.” He pulled her into him tightly.

“We did,” she answered.

Tamaska felt Kodiak fall asleep and wished she could join him. She was more awake after her nap and the lovemaking. She didn’t want to sleep. Even more, she’d dreamt of being a wolf. Memories of that dream urged her to ask Kodiak to turn her now.

But she knew he never would. And that hurt.

CHAPTER 16

Tamaska

She didn’t want to move.

Every part of her ached with a delicious rightness. When she stretched it was like a goddess must feel, or a queen. Or, perhaps mate to the alpha.

She sighed, sliding up against the heat and strength of him.
