“Thanks,” Tessa said.

He caught Tessa’s gaze, the heat of the last few minutes melting away into something closer to confusion, but he had no answers for her. Ethan: The surgery’s over. The doctor said it went well. He’s in recovery now.

Jamie: That’s great news.

Gavin: You must be so relieved.

Ethan: Now the hard part begins. I have no idea how I’m going to get my dad to do all his PT. The man is stubborn as a mule.

Baz: Now there’s the pot calling the kettle black.

Ethan: Tell me something about what’s going on at home. I don’t want to think about hospitals for a little while.

Ethan: I saw those shots Baz sent over.

Gavin: And?

Ethan: It was a nice set up.

Jamie: ?

Baz: That means he doesn’t know how to comment on his daughter being all glammed up and getting cozy with Jamie.

Jamie: We were not getting cozy.

Ethan: It did look pretty cozy.

Gavin: I mean I wouldn’t say it wasn’t cozy.

Jamie: Can we stop using the word cozy?

Ethan: I’m sure they’ll be nice shots. Even if I am regretting asking you to send me a sneak peak.

Baz: Be careful what you wish for.

Ethan: But T’s doing alright? Settling in?

Gavin: Seems to be.

Ethan: Jamie?

Jamie: Yeah. I haven’t talked to her much, but I think she’s doing alright.

Ethan: You think? What a robust report from the guy who’s supposed to be mentoring for my kid.

Jamie: She’s fine. You don’t have anything to worry about.

“What does ‘stir until it looks right’ mean?” Kyla called from the kitchen.

“Kind of like ribbon stage,” Tessa called back.
