It’s a mother's job to give her daughter advice. Some days with your new husband will be hard. Some days will be bliss. You have to take the good with the bad. You do not get one without the other. My advice to you is to remember on the darkest days how much you love each other. There will be times when you question everything. Marriage is forever and not to be taken lightly. Remember this when you’re considering smothering him with a pillow. I promise you not every day will be a bed of roses. Even the greatest love story has prickly thorns.
Be happy, baby bear. Love with everything you have, in the end, that’s what matters. When your dad and I are gone, I hope you’ll lean on your brother. I know he’ll protect you as best he can. We love you both endlessly. My heart is always with you.
Love,
Mom
Blinking quickly, I attempt to keep the tears at bay. Max places his arm around me, pulls me into his arms, and kisses me on the top of my head.
“How long have you had this?”
“For years, but Mia, she didn’t want you to have it until today.”
I grab the ring from the envelope and gasp, “I remember this ring.”
It’s white gold with a small diamond in the center with more white gold in a circle. I slide it onto my right ring finger, and it’s a perfect fit.
“I have one more surprise for you then we need to get to the Church.”
I don’t even hear him get up because I’m staring at the ring, thinking of my parents.
“Mia, come out here please.”
I get up, walk to the living room, and find my brother standing with Savannah. My heart squeezes in my chest, “Savannah! You’re here!”
She giggles as I try to run to her to scoop her up into a hug. Running in a big wedding dress is not easy.
When I release her, she smiles brightly, “Trevor arranged for me to get this beautiful dress.”
I wink at her, “Well he did a fantastic job because you look stunning.”
She spins around, “I feel like Cinderella.”
I laugh, “Cinderella has nothing on you. How are you feeling though?”
“Perfect. I’m not on medication anymore. I’m all better.”
Max glances at me, “We need to go.”
I take Savannah’s hand in mine and smile, “Ready, Bro.”
We walk out of the hotel room and down to the car. After I help Savannah into the car, Max holds up my dress and helps me inside beside her. I whisper to her, “You look so beautiful, Savannah. Blue suits you.”
She blushes, “Thank you, Mia. You look amazing.”
I look across from me at Jade, Willow, and Ivy sitting on the other side of the limo.
“Are you ready for this?” Willow asks.
I laugh, “More than ready.”
MIA
Max loops his arm in mine and kisses me on the top of my head, “You look beautiful.”
“Thank you,” I smile.
We walk down the long aisle of the cathedral, and the air escapes my lungs when I spot Trevor standing there with so much emotion on his face. Wiping a tear from his eye, he takes a deep breath. The way he gazes at me like I’m some kind of miracle makes my chest squeeze with happiness.
