Luke wasn’t sure if he was happy about that fact or not. He’d been told it was quite overwhelming for a woman to be with two men. “I didn’t think you were. Or rather, I can attest firsthand that you aren’t anymore.”
“Then you’ll join us?”
Do it. We need her.
His inner wolf was out of control. If Luke made love with her again, she’d be so deep under his skin that he might take too many chances.
“How about I take a raincheck?” Tossing those words back at her gave him some sense of control.
She smiled, and he almost gave in. “Of course. I’ll drive Ryan home.”
Malia had an answer for everything. Too bad that turned him on even more.
“I’ll grab your jacket for you.” She disappeared down the hall before he could say he’d changed his mind.
“Are you crazy?” Ryan whispered.
“Maybe, but I’m already so balls deep into her that I can’t think straight. We have to focus on finding our cows.”
Ryan shrugged. “I promise I’ll put my full mental acumen into looking for them after tonight. You had your chance with her. Now, it’s my turn.”
His brother was right. “Fine, but I don’t want to hear any details when you come home tonight.”
Ryan grinned. “My lips are sealed, but I imagine that will drive you even more crazy.”
Their mate returned and handed him the jacket. Luke didn’t want to be a total dick to her, so he gave Malia a hug. “The meal was fabulous. Thank you.”
She leaned back. “You can change your mind. I won’t hold it against you.” When Malia dragged a palm down his face, Luke’s teeth sharpened, and his body started to shift.
He stepped back. “I can’t.”
“You’re afraid. That’s okay. I’m sure Ryan can keep me occupied.”
The witch knew how to push his buttons. “Goodnight to both of you.”
Luke turned around and walked out the door as casually as he could. The blast of cold air sobered him.
What are you doing?he asked himself.
Of the two of them, Luke had developed the art of controlling his emotions. He’d given enough presentations to large corporations to know how to prevent anyone from reading him. With Malia, he was a piece of cellophane.
With purpose, he strode to the truck, jumped in, and drove away.
Did he want to turn around and say he’d changed his mind? Hell yes, he did. To be fair to Ryan, Luke would let him explore their tempting mate—this time.
CHAPTERTHIRTEEN
“Do you think he’s coming back?” Malia asked. To be honest, she wasn’t sure if she wanted him to or not.
On one hand, the sex between Luke and her had been off-the-charts-good. On the other, it would be nice to experience Ryan by himself.
Malia was never forward with men. In fact, she’d never even asked a man to have sex with her, but these men were her mates, and the three of them belonged together—even if Luke was hesitant to admit it.
“Do you want him to?” Ryan shot back.
She didn’t want Ryan to think she only cared for his brother, so Malia wrapped her arms around his neck. “I wanted to make certain we wouldn’t be interrupted.”
He grinned. “In that case, we better lock the door. In all seriousness, I don’t think he will return. He’ll want to, I can guarantee you that, but he has this idea that you distract him too much.”
