He always works out on Sundays. He works out every day.
I can’t dwell on it long before I become busy and Nick’s strange behavior is easily forgotten. The only thing getting me through my day is that in three hours I’ll be with Nick and doing whatever he has planned.
It’s unreal that this is what my life has come to.
Sundays were usually my days to clean, rest and write. But now I can’t wait to see Nick Miller. My boyfriend.
The thought alone keeps a smile plastered to my face on my walk home.
The weather is getting colder, nearing the end of October. Soon, I’ll have to break out my heavy winter coat and fuzzy boots to walk home or get a ride from Layla when we work the same shifts.
Nick hasn’t texted or called me to tell me the plan, but as soon as I round the corner to my house his car pulls up in front of it.
“Why did you walk home? I went to pick you up, but Layla said you left already.” He runs up to meet me.
“Oh, I didn’t know your plan. I always walk.” I shrug.
Really, I left five minutes early so I could try to make it home and change before he got here. My plan didn’t work out as well as I wanted it to.
“Should I go get changed? What’s the plan?” I head up to my house and look back to make sure he’s following me.
As we reach my porch, he lifts my chin with his thumb and forefinger to look up at him.
His hazy gray eyes pierce into me. “Lenora, the plan is to get naked in your room.”
I swallow down the fear creeping up. That nervous awkward feeling keeps popping up whenever Nick is near. My body shakes with nervous jitters as he leans into me before his lips lightly brush against mine, sending those little sparks down to my toes.
Here.
In broad daylight, in my front yard for all to see. Nick Miller is kissing me and holding me.
I give my arm a small pinch to make sure I’m not dreaming.
It’s still real.
I didn’t know what to expect when I’d see him. He said he wanted to celebrate some good news he received, but did that mean he wanted to go out?
“I thought you wanted to celebrate?” I whisper against his lips.
His hold on me is tight. I can’t move even if I wanted to.
And I don’t want to.
Letting out a soft laugh, he brushes his nose against mine.
“That’s exactly what we’ll be doing. Now, let’s go.” He lightly slaps my ass and turns me towards the door to go inside.
It isn’t elegant or sweet as we both speed past anyone in the kitchen and living room.
As fast as my legs will carry me, we run up the stairs until we make it to my room and I push the door closed behind us. I don’t even know whom we ran past. I had tunnel vision, right to my room.
Nick chuckles as I sit on the edge of my bed, hastily pulling off my fleece, Nick’s old fleece.
He climbs over me, pushing me back and kissing me all over, above my clothes.
This is where all my fear and doubts wash away. There’s no doubt in my mind that Nick wants me just as badly as I want him. I’m so sure of everything when it’s just the two of us here in my room.
He growls into the crook of my neck as he works his way up to my jaw, sending a shiver down my spine and making my skin prickle with goosebumps. I pull his shirt up and over his head, and use my fingers to trace and admire every divot in his perfectly sculpted body.
