“You can share the master with me,” she said lowly to Graham.
He raised his brows, gave her a suggestive smile, and wrapped his arms around her. “Congratulations on the series getting picked up. You never gave up despite the odds. I am so proud of you.”
They moved out of the way as Megan squeezed into the small kitchen and began unloading the cooler.
Alex set more grocery bags on the raised counter and plunked down on one of the bar chairs. “I saw the interview you did with Chris Remington.” She made a heart shape with her hands. “I can’t believe he’s going to be the lead. I would be so starstruck I wouldn’t know what to say. But I’d be content to stare at him for hours.”
“Thanks, babe.” Jace acted insulted.
“Chris is eye-candy and down-to-earth, but he doesn’t do it for me like Graham Holmstrom.” Erin batted her lashes at him, and he gave that amused laugh that did things to her insides. “If you want to play the colonel in the series, they haven’t cast that role yet. On second thought, scratch that. I don’t want to compete with thousands of women swooning over you.”
“I prefer to stay out of the spotlight.”
“Does this mean McKittrick’s not keeping you over 3rdGroup?” As thrilled as she was to be with him, Erin had wanted Graham to have everything he wanted—especially being with his kids.
“He did want me to stay.”
“But . ..”
“Sally told you that Sean has a problem with your involvement with the series, didn’t she?” Graham turned serious.
“She might have brought that up,” Erin confessed. She couldn’t hold up under the slightest interrogation.
“A break from us is not the solution. But me taking command of 10thGroup at Fort Carson is a compromise I can live with and gets you closer to LA.”
Still a long distance from Fort Liberty. At least Colorado wasn’t overseas. “How do you feel about this?” Erin looked at Megan.
“We told him to go for it—with you. We don’t want a sad, grumpy grandpa.”
“The change won’t take place for a few months, but will you go to Colorado with me?”
“Say yes,” Megan urged her.
“I will.”
Megan cheered. The others joined in as Erin kissed Graham. She’d go anywhere with him. These past few weeks without him made her realize a future with him was what she wanted more than a job screenwriting and any amount of money that could come with it. That he’d do all this for her to have her dream conquered her last fears.
“Since we’re celebrating you, you get to decide if we go out or have dinner here,” Megan said.
“We’ve been missing game night. I brought cards,” Jace was quick to put in.
“Dinner in, then games. I can get more hugs in here.” Erin draped her arms over Graham’s shoulders. “I missed you.”
“I missed you more.”
“That’s not possible.” Though it still felt good to hear him say it. “I don’t think we should fight about this again.”
“As I recall, last time we came up with a compromise where we both won.” Graham lowered his voice to the low, sexy timbre that made her body heat.
“We sure did.”
“After dinner, you two,” Megan said. “This baby mama is getting hungry.”
“What do you need help with?” Erin asked.
“Turn on the oven, then cuddle with Dad in the family room. You weren’t expecting us, and we planned accordingly. We got this.”
“If you insist,” Erin agreed, then they followed Megan’s orders.
