“I’ll have a quick shower while you make my breakfast. Marmalade or Marmite on the toast. Not too thick with the Marmite.”
“What did your last slave die of?”
“Too much Marmite.”
By the time Ren emerged into the main room, the coffee was ready and the toast followed quickly after.
“Thank you,” Ren said. “Do you like Marmite?” He bit into a slice andhmmedwith pleasure at the salty tang.
“No.”
Ren chewed and swallowed. “Just as I was thinking wemightbe compatible.” Still holding the toast, he stepped into Dominic’s space and pushed until he’d backed Dominic up against the worktop. “Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
“You weren’t in bed. I didn’t wake with your mouth near mine. I was denied the sight of your lovely backside. You didn’t share fun time in the shower. I didn’t get the opportunity to wash you. All over. Head to toe. And all the bits in between. Especially the bits in between. Kiss me and I’ll forgive it all.”
Dominic glanced at the Marmite on toast Ren was holding, sighed, then kissed him. Ren went hard in an instant. What the fuck was up with him? Apart from his cock? But the kiss… Long and slow and perfect.
“Like Marmite now?” Ren asked as he pulled away, and bit off a piece of toast.
“I hear it’s an acquired taste.”
Everyone was in the kitchen tent when they arrived at the site. Brett introduced a couple more people who’d joined the dig and Ren was suspicious of one of them because the guy’s boots were too clean.Christ! He wanted to hit himself around the head with a shovel. He could find something to worry about with everyone. Brett hadn’t shaved. Gethin was sitting away from everyone. Herb was chattering too much. Irma looked as though she wanted to be anywhere else…
Ren left Dominic poring over the finds discovered after they’d left yesterday and went looking for Will. His brother had his back to his tent and Katrina was in front of him, not quite pinning him in place with her breasts, but close to it. Ren was tempted to walk away. It served Will right but…
“Hi, Will,” Ren called. “Can I have a word? Sorry, Katrina.”
When she’d moved off, Will led Ren to the far edge of the site. “Thank you. She’s worryingly persistent.”
“Report her to…someone.”
“I have. Just in case. I don’t want to cause trouble but things can so easy go tits up.” He winced. “If she claims I harassed her or said I’d give her a good grade if she…cooperated. But I also don’t want her saying I didn’t pay her enough attention. Academic attention, I mean.”
“The perils of academia.” Ren grinned.
Will chuckled. “Thanks for the rescue anyway.”
“You’re welcome. And keep thinking how grateful you are while I’m talking to you.”
Will narrowed his eyes. “Are you about to piss me off?”
“Possibly.”
Will’s reaction to the news of Ren and Dominic acting as bait went about as well as Ren had expected. No steam came out of Will’s ears, but for a moment, his brother seemed to have lost the ability to speak.
“It’ll be fine,” Ren said.
“He’s bait?” Will glowered. “You’rebait? Are you insane?”
“Nothing’s going to happen.”
“You can’t possibly know that.”
“Not a hundred percent certain but…”
“You’re an idiot.”
