“Come and have a coffee. We can probably manage breakfast as well.”

Ren spotted Will as they headed towards the site.

“Better say hello to my brother first.”

“Morning,” Will said as they met him.

“Will, this is Dominic. Dominic, my brother Will. The not so good-looking son.”

Will sighed and held out his hand. “But the favourite one. Nice to meet you, Dominic.”

“Is it okay if I give you a hand on the dig?” Dominic asked. “I’m fascinated to see what you’ve found.”

“You only get us for the morning,” Ren said. “We both need to take things steady, remember?”

“Am I likely to forget? And since when have you ever taken anything steady? But that’s fine. Gather at nine to meet everyone and I’ll allocate tasks, okay?”

Ren nodded.

Will turned to Dominic. “We turned up an interesting piece of stone yesterday afternoon. Come and have a look. Tell me what you think.”

“I’ll get us some coffee,” Ren said. “Want one, Will?”

“Please.”

“Sugar? Milk?” Ren asked.

“Neither, thanks.”

By the time Ren was back, Will and Dominic were chattering away in the finds gazebo. Ren handed them their drinks.

“What about mining material?” Dominic suggested.

“A mine around here?” Will frowned.

“I thought I read that silver had been found in this area.”

“Not in this exact spot, but… Yes, interesting point. We did spot some strange dark shapes on the geophysical survey.”

Dominic sipped his coffee. “That piece looks like what might remain after ore’s been removed. What were the other stones like?”

“Not like this one but… I’m liking your theory.”

Dominic smiled and Ren wanted to kiss him.Andhis brother for being kind to Dominic.

“Spotted the stone dildo?” Ren asked.

Will groaned. “It’s an amphora handle.”

Ren tutted in disappointment. “You’ll find one, eventually.”

“You make it sound like I’m looking for one.”

“You aren’t?” Ren put a look of amazement on his face.

Dominic chuckled.

“If you’re not careful, brother-mine, I’ll make you sift through the spoil heap.”
