I smiled despite the crashing of my heart against my ribcage and the way the silk of my pyjama top clung to my skin.

What are you doin’ for the Christmas break?

Teddy: Same. Will be nice to see my folks I suppose xx

My heart ached. How could he mean so much to me so quickly? I never let anyone in, yet he had come bounding straight through, like the gates were held open for him. Just him.

Adeline: I know, me too. It’s okay though. They’re usually very busy. It’ll just be nice to not have any homework xx

Adeline: Oh yes, it’s always a good spread! Xx
