I sigh but do what he says, lifting the blockade. I can see Lysander’s face popping up briefly. It looks like he wants to say something, but then he lets his head hang down and lies down.

I shift my attention back to Elden. “Done.”

“Good.” He smiles. “That’s all for today. For the next time, I want you to bring Henry along.”

“Do we have to involve him?” I ask. It’s not like I don’t trust Henry. I just know he will be incredibly sad for me. He has so much on his plate already. I don’t want my sorrow to be his own.

“Unfortunately, yes. You are identical twins, and we might need your bond for what we plan next. I want Henry’s lycan to talk to Lysander.”

I sigh, not happy with this, but I can’t keep ignoring my strained bond to my lycan forever. Dalila is my mate, she is human, and I want her to be safe. We’re probably facing dangerous times now, and I want to be at my full strength to protect her. “Alright,” I say begrudgingly so.

“Good.” Elden nods and gets up. “Let’s go to the others now, shall we? We have a deity to visit.”

The Lynx

*HENRY*

Throughourbond,Ican tell that Tony feels equally depressed and relieved when he returns to us. I wonder what he and Uncle Elden talked about… actually, I’ve been obsessing over it since we left the office. That was until Elodie got annoyed with me fidgeting around and overthinking the situation and told me that twin or not, he deserves some privacy too and will tell me things at his pace.

It’s still difficult as fuck. We have never had secrets from each other. And for once, Arlo isn’t a voice of reason either. He gets impatient trying to reach out to Lys. At least he told me he can reach him again, just that Lysander refuses to speak to him.

He just gets half-assed answers.

“So, what did we miss?” Elden asks when he and Tony join us again.

“Nothing much, just lunch.” Marcel chuckles.

“I made sure they saved some leftovers for you,” Elodie points out and stands up to head to the kitchen and organize the food. It amazes me that she thinks she would be a terrible luna; I think she will be great. She can focus on so many things at once, and she always has a bigger picture in mind. Maybe she won’t be the soft and sweet type of luna, but she will always have the interest of those around her in mind.

Besides, she is a lycan and will not only be a luna but still an advisor to the Council.

It’s unusual, but then it seems Tony and I do nothing the usual way.

“It’s good to see you, Arman,” Elden squeezes Arman’s shoulder.

The latter smiles slightly. He is quiet and stoic usually, but it seems he looks up to Elden a bit. “I took a rest, as you said I should,” he says. “I’m feeling well enough to try it again.”

“I made sure he rests.” Harmony chuckles. “Something about these proud men and not being able to admit any weakness makes it really difficult sometimes,” she says, making Arman frown while Elise and Marcel laugh.

“Tell me about it,” Elodie says dryly as she returns with the food for Elden and Tony.

The girls giggle some more, teasing us for being too proud for our own good sometimes. To my relief, Cassiopeia joins us again and stops the banter.

“Is everything settled?” Elden asks her.

She nods. “I will have the pride move to Alpha Ezra’s pack tomorrow,” she says, surprising us with how fast they came to a conclusion. It seems like once she makes up her mind, there is no stopping her.

We wait for Elden, Tony, and Cassiopeia to eat their lunch before we make our way to the infirmary. Auset is lying in a room in a secluded and guarded part of the infirmary, far away from the other patients.

“Are you ready?” Elden asks Arman when he opens the door and leads us inside. It’s a beautiful room with lots of light and some flowers on Auset’s table.

Arman doesn’t say anything, just nods.

“This time, I want you not to over-exhaust yourself,” Elden points out.

“But how am I going to avoid that?” Arman asks.
