The Goddess sent me a mate who enjoys the same thing I do? I was so close to stopping believing in miracles. I was even contemplating taking a chosen mate, and here she is, this tiny goddess with her intoxicating scent and her fiery personality that hides a fangirl beneath. I couldn’t care less that she is human or that I might need to court her and slowly explain everything to her. I don’t care. I’m just so happy I found her that I want to cry.

“What’s your name?” I ask her.

“Dalila,” she says.

“Beautiful name.” I grin. “But I don’t have a smartass comparison for it.”

She giggles, and it’s the sweetest sound ever.

Before my mind goes completely blank from having my goddess in my arms, I link Henry. I need him as backup.

What the hell happened? He asks.I didn’t want to disturb you because Dad said you were outside, trying to save—

Shut up!I blurt out.I… mate… Fuck…

Are you saying…Henry gapes. The human in the car?

Yes!

Oh, Goddess. He sounds worried but also happy.I’ll tell Dad, and we’ll have your back.

We have no time to engage in a talk further because, with a loud thud, I barge into the pack house. Deacon is waiting there for me with some warriors. “Everyone’s inside,” he tells me. “You and your warrior”—he pauses when he sees Dalila in my arms—“your wannabe storm fighters are the only ones missing,” he says, laughing and easily smoothing over his slip-up like the beta he is.

Is this a code red?He links me.Do we have to act on it?

I can’t blame him for being wary. If it were a code red, he’d need to act accordingly and cover our bases. I look from her to him, not sure what to say, but all of a sudden, his eyes widen, and something dawns on him. “You two go and get dried up,” he tells me. “I will talk to Al… Jace.”

I nod. “Thank you.” I know I should put Dalila down now and have her walk on her own, but I can’t let go of her. I just can’t.

I’m still contemplating what to do when I can feel Henry coming closer. “Tony,” he greets me and smiles at Dalila, who looks at him with wide eyes.

“There are two of you?” she asks me, shocked.

“Why?” I wiggle my brows at her. “Did I leave such a lasting impression that you are shocked by twice the awesomeness?”

“Does he also have your ego?” she says and rolls her eyes, but her cheeks flush a bit.

Henry looks at me. “Tony, I have bad news,” he says, and sounds truly somber. For a split second, I’m scared of what he is talking about until… “We have so many people here today due to the weather that all the rooms are occupied. We others are hosting more… guests too.” He pauses. “It would help if you two shared a room.”

I swear, he is the best brother in the world!

Dalila stares at me wide-eyed. “I’m staying in a room with you?”

“It’s big,” I promise.

“And what if you happen to be a serial killer?” She frowns.

I grin. “Would it help if I offered you a pepper spray? You could keep it with you.”

“Something tells me that not even a pepper spray would keep you away if you have set your mind on something,” she deadpans.

Goddess, I love her sass. And she is fucking right, too. She could literally empty a bottle of pepper spray in my eyes, and I would still want to hold her in my arms. Henry shows me a warm smile when I nod at him and make my way upstairs to my suite.

Only when I reach it do I realize I indeed carried her the whole way… and she hasn’t complained even once.
