“Not at all.” He grins. “This is what your name means, quite literally.” He turns to Nephthys. “I told you, I like her attitude.”

“Of course you do,” she says dryly. “She is at least partly my offspring.” She squeezes my hand. “But Maahes is not the surprise I have for you.” She looks at Maahes. “Show her.”

He nods. “Close your eyes.” I do as he said, curious as to what these two are up to.

“And now open them again,” Nephthys whispers.

I follow her order and open my eyes, my gaze falling on a little white tiger cub, the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. It sleeps peacefully in Maahes’ arms. I feel a strange tug in me, both sadness and joy washing over me. “Is this…?”

“Yes, that was supposed to be your cat spirit,” Nephthys explains. “When you died in your mother’s womb, your connection was ripped, and it was supposed to die too, but Bastet and Maahes saved it. Sadly, we can’t return it to you,” she says. “However…”

“However?”

“We’ve kept it for one of your future children,” Maahes says with a smile. “She is sleeping now until it’s time for her to be united with her human. Your firstborn daughter will be gifted with her as her spirit, and she will be a strong werecat.”

My eyes widen as warmth fills me. “She wasn’t lost. You saved her.”

“It wasn’t just me,” Maahes says.

If I ever had doubts about my alliance with him, they vanished now. “Can I touch her?”

“Of course.” He gently lays her into my arms. The little being purrs while asleep, and it’s the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. Part of me feels sad that I will never be reunited with her, but I am grown up now, and she is still just a baby. And I’m half deity. I can’t have a werecat spirit added to everything. However, it’s truly comforting to know that my future daughter will one day have her at her side.

“You know how rare white tigers are, don’t you?” Nephthys asks.

I nod.

“She will be blessed,” Maahes adds.

Maahes and Nephthys let me spend some time with her before Nephthys touches my shoulder. “It’s time to go back,” she says with a smile.

“Already?”

“You have slept for a whole day and night.” She chuckles. “And your mate is already worried sick.”

I smile at the thought of how I’m soon going to be with my Tony again. I kiss the head of the little tiger cub and hand it back to Maahes. Nephthys leads me back out of the chamber. “How do I return?” I ask her.

She puts a hand on my shoulder. “Close your eyes, and then think of where you are supposed to be. Think of your mate.”

I do as she said, imagining my surroundings, the pack, and especially Anthony. At first, the pictures are a bit flimsy, but soon, everything becomes clearer until I blink my eyes open and find myself in Tony’s cozy bed. Tony is resting next to me, but his eyes snap open the moment he feels my presence. He is the cutest with his slightly curly hair. He wears it longer than Henry, and I love it, as I can brush my hands through it.

“You are awake.” Relief fills Tony’s eyes.

“I’m fine.” I smile at him. “Just visited one of my moms.”

He chuckles. “The fact that you are part deity is so—”

“Weird?” I offer.

“Hot.” Tony pulls me towards him and pecks my lips.

I chuckle. “Morning breath,” I complain. “I must smell rotten!”

“Lys and I don’t mind.”

“But I do.” I laugh, scrambling out of my bed. “You animals!”

He wiggles his brows.
