I smile. “Tony accepts me the way I am. Even when he thought I was just a normal human.”

“Wolves and humans have a difficult history. So do wolves and cats.” She smiles at me. “My mate accepted me instantly, too. We found two keepers.”

“Well…” I grin. “We are two keepers, too!”

“That’s the right spirit.” She smirks, her eyes glinting slightly. “My cat spirit likes your confidence.”

“Are you going with them?” I ask her. “To Egypt, I mean?”

She nods. “I will join them. Anthony and Henry want to keep the group as small as possible since we need to sneak in. But this is personal to me, as they attacked my pride and my aunt. As their future queen, I need to defend them.” She smirks. “Besides, cats are much more silent than wolves. I am stealthy.”

I don’t know why, but something about the fact that she will be with Tony and Henry, and my other friends sets my mind at ease.

“Where is your mate?” I ask her.

“Callum went ahead for the meeting.” She smirks. “I just had to tell him that one of us needs to stay behind to protect the pride, and well… it’s not going to be me, so he is sulking.”

I laugh.

She squeezes my shoulder once more before tugging me towards one of the meeting rooms. Everyone’s already there, even Alpha Elden and Jace. Tony’s eyes light up when he sees me. Cassiopeia lets go of me, and I make my way to my mate and sit down next to him. Cassiopeia takes the place next to Callum, the both of them exchanging a short gaze. To my amusement, he looks at her longingly while she tosses him an annoyed glare.

The meeting itself is long, and to my utmost embarrassment, I don’t understand half of what they are discussing. They want to make it a secret guerilla attack instead of attacking with full force. They use my pictures from the surveillance cameras to decide who will enter at what point. Fortunately, Elise and Elodie brought some amulets from the Council, just like Auset predicted, which will prove a bit of a protection at least. They will also cover everyone’s scents.

“These are truly going to protect us?” Cassiopeia asks.

“They will protect us from dark magic,” Elodie says. “But they aren’t going to work against a deity. So let’s not be reckless.”

“I think we should go in small groups,” Tony says while looking at the map. “Two people together, maximum.”

“I have to agree,” Jace nods.

“Build the groups now,” Elden advises. “You won’t want to do that last minute.”

“Elodie and I are going together,” Elise says, much to my surprise. I thought she would rather choose to go with her mate. By the look Henry and Marcel toss the both of them, it seems I’m not the only one feeling confused.

“Wouldn’t it be better if it were you and me?” Marcel asks.

Henry nods. “I can’t let you go in there alone, Elodie.”

“But you have to,” she says calmly. “Elise’s and mine gift is a joint gift. It’s the strongest when we are together.”

“She is right. The twins need to be together,” Elden agrees. “Henry and Anthony, you should go together too.”

“We don’t have a joint gift, though,” Tony points out.

“But you have a connection.”

Tony nods, exchanging a gaze with Henry. They seem to discuss something via mind link, but eventually, Henry gives in with a sigh.

“What about the rest of you?” Jace wants to know.

“Arman and I could go together,” Harmony offers.

“You are joining?” Tony asks, and it doesn’t go past me that he looks relieved.

She nods. “I talked to Alpha Celine, and she agreed it would be in our all interest if I joined you.”

I squeeze Tony’s leg, looking at him curiously and hoping he will understand my question. She is a ranked beta,he tells me.And she is very strong with more experience than the rest of us.
