“True.” Elise nods. “But he could choose not to use it. His problem is that he doesn’t have much control over his gift. It’s thanks to the shitty pack he grew up in. Normally, he should have trained this gift early on and learned to control it, not to go too deep into someone’s mind, but he is only learning about it now, and it makes it so much harder.”

“What’s the downside to Alpha Elden’s and Luna Flora’s gifts?” I ask her. “They for sure are powerful.”

“It’s different for them,” Elise explains. “As for Luna Flora, I have no idea what her gift actually is. And Alpha Elden, he is a royal lycan.”

“Isn’t Arman royal too?”

“You surely listened well,” Tony says, impressed. “You are right. Arman is royal, but Uncle Elden is a direct descendant of one of the five royal families. Their bloodline leads back to the first lycans to ever exist.”

I let his words sink in. There is so much I still don’t understand. I wish Mom and Grandma were still here to help me a bit. “My family were werecats,” I say. “I’m sure there is so much to my heritage I don’t understand.”

“We can ask Princess Cassiopeia to connect with your roots,” Tony promises me. “Or even better, Zahra. She knew your grandma, and I’m sure she can tell you much more about her life than anyone else.”

I beam at him. “I haven’t thought of that. It’s a great idea, Tony!”

“For now, save some of your brain cells for what’s coming next,” Marcel grins. “We still need to hear what kind of mindfuck Arman was caught up in.”

“True.” Tony chuckles. He skillfully starts diverting the topic to something else now, and we end up discussing Marcel and Elise moving to Emerald Moon. They don’t want to stay in the pack house and prefer to have their own place.

I don’t know how much time passed, but suddenly, Alpha Elden’s beta… the man with the many tattoos… comes to get us. “Time for the meeting of doom,” he snorts. “Episode three of Arman and his dream walking adventures.”

“If only it wouldn’t get crazier after each time, Vincent,” Marcel says while we all get up to follow him.

“I swear, last time when he suddenly appeared with the lynx in his arms, I thought I had lost my mind,” Tony points out.

“You are truly taking this well,” Vincent says to me.

I grin. “Well, the last week has been so crazy. This here is just another part of the craziness that is my new life now.”

Vincent grins and nods, while leading us towards the meeting room. The others are already there, waiting for us. Arman still looks tired, but also determined.

“Alright.” Alpha Elden looks at Arman. “It’s your moment now.”

Arman instantly jumps into explaining to us what happened. It’s a bit hard for me to tell what’s truly weird and what’s supposed to be normal in my new reality. As for me, fucking everything going on here is weird, but, judging by the shocked expressions around us, Arman’s experience is truly one of a kind.

“Bastet,” Cassiopeia whispers. “She truly helped you?”

“I think she might have saved my life,” Arman admits.

“And the deity at the end… he turned out to be a male deity?” Henry asks.

Arman nods. “It was hard to tell when I saw him on my first trip into Auset’s mind, but he was a man. He introduced himself as Maahes.”

“What?” Henry and Elden exclaim in unison.

“Who is Maahes?” Harmony wants to know.

“Maahes is said to be Bastet’s son,” Elden explains.

“Now it makes sense as to why Bastet was involved!” Cassiopeia mutters.

“That’s not all, though,” Elden says. “Let Henry continue.”

“Maahes is supposed to be the god of war, with a lion head. He is said to be the deity for war, protection, and weather…” Henry pauses. “His biggest enemy, and the one he constantly fought against, is Apep, which is just another name for Apophis.”

Arman’s eyes widen. “The figure in the pyramid, the screeching, the one who wanted to attack me… it was Apophis!”

“Maybe not in person,” Elden says. “But a spirit manifestation of him.”
