“Hello, my hot, nerdy mate.” I smile. “Breakfast?”
“You are the best.” She beams. “When we have more free time, we should return here and stay a few days.”
“And just have sex, play video games, and eat,” I tell her.
“Exactly.” She giggles. “It sounds perfect.”
“And I can finally beat your ass at LOL.”
“Excuse me.” One of her eyebrows shoots up. “You beatmyass?”
I sneakily come closer. “Oh, I would love to beat your ass,” I whisper while pulling her closer.
She laughs at my silly joke. “So that’s the kind of guy you are, Anthony Hearst.”
I nod seriously. “I’m the worst.”
She grabs my face between her hands and kisses me. “The absolute worst and the best.”
“Yeah.” I grin. “I sound like a great guy.”
I let go of her to serve her breakfast, and we finish it while chatting with each other. She is so lively, her dark eyes seem to sparkle with joy and mischief, and her heritage really comes through, I think. She is full of passion, and she has these mesmerizing gray eyes and luscious hair.
I try to slap myself inwardly, realizing I’m getting distracted by her beauty again. We really need to return here for a few days once everything is settled, but for now, duty calls. I sigh heavily. “I wish we could stay,” I mutter more to myself than to her.
“I promise we can come back.” Dalila smiles. “It’s a date, Tony. But by now, I’ve learned how many duties you and Henry have and also that Elodie and I can’t just skip them. I want to be your partner.”
She stretches out her hand, and I take it with a smile. “That’s what I’m hoping for. Plus, our pack is in dire need of a security update.”
“That you are.” She laughs. “You are incredibly easy to hack.” She pauses. “Tony, I want to continue working my job. I know I will have a lot of duties as luna, but I want to keep a bit of my freelancer jobs.”
“I know,” I say. “I wouldn’t stop you from it.”
She smiles warmly. “Then let’s go. The faster we settle this threat from that chaos deity and their cult, the sooner we can have our sex and video game weekend.”
“That’s the motivation I needed.” I laugh.
We don’t have much to pack. I just take a pair of clean clothes with me and have Dalila carry them while we return the way we came here: in Lys’ form and with Dalila riding on his back. She is far more comfortable this time around and doesn’t have a death grip on his fur anymore. Lys and I make a mental note to take her on more rides like this and have her see the whole pack grounds.
*HENRY*
I’m used to feeling Tony through our twin bond, though we have both learned to blend it out a bit, but the amount of happiness I felt was hard to ignore. And I instantly knew what it was about. I didn’t tell anyone, though. The others thought Tony was showing Dalila around a bit and wanted to spend some time alone with his mate.
I’m not sure if I should have prepared them or anything because as soon as Tony and Dalila return and meet all of us, Dad’s the first to drop the bomb, as usual. “I can’t believe it!” he blurts out. “You marked her!”
Tony looks at him in disbelief while Dalila tries to ignore the curious stares and whistles from the pack members close by. “Yes, Dad.” He sighs.
“Jace.” Mom furrows her brows. “Don’t always be so loud and direct.”
“Oh.” He raises his brows. “I thought you like that?”
At this, Elodie can’t help but snicker, and I just roll my eyes. This is definitely where Tony got his snarky and sneaky attitude from.
“Congrats, brother,” I tell him with a smile, clasping his shoulder. He puts his hand on my shoulder as well, squeezing it.
“We got some great mates,” he says. “Let’s make sure to cherish them.”
“Absolutely.” I nod. “And protect them. They are both so tiny.”
