I focus on Max for a moment, trying to feel his presence in my mind. He is curled up now, his body heaving. His right paw moves a bit.Sereia,he mutters while drooling slightly.Chicken wings.

I have to hold back a laugh. I really don’t want to wake him up. He was constantly on alert when we were in Blood Snow; he deserves a bit of rest too. My lycan might not be as powerful as Liam’s, and he is not as elegant and regal as Aurelia’s, but he is a kind soul who always has my back.

I do,I tell Aurelia.Wouldn’t want to be without him.

Both Max and I are soft for alpha wolves, and a few years ago, I wasn’t always happy with such a big softie at my side. My mom always told me, though, that kindness is not weakness.

I always thought my softness was a disadvantage. However, I’m starting to believe she is right. I am who I am, and Max is part of that.

*FINN*

WhenNoxhaltsthecar in front of the pack house of Silverlake, and we all get out, stretching our tired limbs, I hear a loud squeal erupting from the house.

“Goodness,” Anthony breathes out. “That’s Mom. Someone hide me!”

“No way you’re getting out of this.” I laugh.

I have known Janice for many years, and she is a very kind but rather quiet and composed woman. I swear, I’ve never seen her run that fast! I have also never seen her so emotional. She is flailing her arms while dashing our way, pushing past the warriors guarding the pack house and making a beeline for the twins.

Janice throws her arms around both of them, tears in her eyes. “I’m so relieved.” She sobs. “They told us you were dead.”

“Come on, Mom, we are fine.” Henry pats her head.

Jace has been following her and approaches his sons, pulling them into a bear hug.

I smile slightly. And they were worried their parents didn’t love them. Before we can start teasing the twins, though, we are surrounded by our own families. I pull Freya next to me so that everyone gets the hint immediately. Ryllis meanwhile searches for Steve’s presence and smiles shyly when he takes her tiny hand into his big one.

My father approaches me in giant strides with my mother skipping along next to him.

These are my parents,I link Freya.

Freya stares at my father through wide eyes, shifting a bit uncomfortably. He looks strong.

Don’t worry; he would never abuse his power and—

Wait a moment, she interrupts me.Did you say this elf-like girl is your mother!?

I chuckle. Mom gets everyone the first time they meet her.

“Finn,” Dad says, and I can see a whole whirlwind of emotions in his expression. He looks worried and relieved at the same time. It’s almost awkward to see him like that. Then, my mom runs head-first into him, bumping him towards me, before she wraps her tiny arms around the both of us.

“We are so happy to see you.”

“I was really worried,” Dad says earnestly.

“I knew you were alright.” Mom beams and winks at me. Trixie, meanwhile, has made her way out of Steve’s pocket and approaches her.

“I made sure to watch out for them, Flora.” She beams proudly.

Dad squeezes my shoulder one more time before moving to stare at Trixie. “Erm…Flora?”

“Oh.” she giggles. “That was the fairy I forgot to tell you about.”

“You are truly full of miracles and surprises,” Dad says, the hint of a smirk on his lips.
