His eyes light up when he sees me. “Are you feeling better?”
“I am.” I smile, taking a deep breath of his scent. Sereia is getting stronger, it seems, as his scent smells even more intoxicating to me now. “I will forever be thankful that the Goddess brought you into my life.”
“You are not the only one, Freya,” he says earnestly. “I’ll be eternally grateful to her too.”
His words make my heart jump in joy, and when he offers me his hand, I take it, allowing him to pull me down next to him. While the others are busy, I decide it’s alright to take advantage of this little moment between us now. I reach out my hand, gently touching his face, and I realize it’s the first time I’ve truly touched him. He closes his eyes, and I lean forward to kiss him softly. When he reaches out his arm to hug me, I can feel how he flinches slightly.
It reminds me of why I was seeking him out in the first place.
“Can you take off your shirt?” I ask him.
He opens his eyes and looks at me, amused.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” I feel flustered instantly. “I meant…because of your shoulder.”
He wiggles his eyebrows at me and smirks. “You only have to ask,” he teases.
I blush a bit, grumbling insults under my breath, making him laugh even more. He obliges and removes his shirt, revealing his perfect upper body. This time, however, I don’t take time to revel in the view in front of me; instead, I carefully inspect his shoulder. It’s covered in dark bruises… “You dislocated it.”
“Seems like it,” he says like it doesn’t matter. He has to be in so much pain, yet he ensured everyone else was fine, before saying anything.
“I can help you,” I offer, scooting closer. “I’ve done that before.”
I roll my eyes when he wraps an arm around me and pulls me on his lap, making me straddle his hips.
Sly,Sereia comments dryly.I like that.
Oh, you…
Don’t pretend you don’t like it,she teases.Bet you can feel his dingdong now.
Could you stop calling it that?I blush. It’s so silly.
It was you who named the pack’s penises that way.She chuckles.
Our mate deserves better,I argue.
Alright, alright, have fun rubbing against his erection while attending to his injury.
I don’t deem that worthy of an answer, but when I shift my attention back to Finn, I can note the blatant amusement in his eyes. He doesn’t need to be a super special wolf to guess what I was thinking about. I distract myself by checking on his shoulder. It must have happened when he fell. “That was risky what you and Henry did,” I mutter.
“Risky but necessary,” he admits.
“I can fix it,” I say, carefully leading him to reach his right arm out to the side and then above his head. “It’s going to hurt,” I warn him.
“Just do what’s necessary,” he encourages me.
I nod, making him rotate his arm behind his head so that he can reach his shoulder blades, then I tug it to the opposite shoulder. A short popping sound can be heard, and Finn groans. Other than that, no sound escapes his lips.
“That should have done it.” I smile.
He gingerly moves his arm, beaming at me. “As good as new. With my wolf healing, it will be all healed in half an hour. Thank you!”
Elodie comes closer. “Sorry to interrupt your moment. I just saw how you helped Finn with his shoulder.” She looks at me with interest. “You know a lot about these things, it seems.”
“I learned a lot about first aid,” I explain. “We had to tend to ourselves most of the time.” I don’t tell her how they would beat us and hurt us sometimes and that we needed to know the basics about first aid to survive. I don’t need to tell her because she and Finn understand what I’m talking about without any further explanation.
“You think.” I lick my lips nervously. “That I could offer my help to them?” I nod towards the spot where Henry and Elise still treat Anthony. “I know a few things about first aid without having proper supplies.”
