Got you,Henry agrees.I was thinking the same.

I turn my head slightly to look downwards. Henry and Elodie are right below me, yet I can’t see them that well anymore. The others are only silhouettes. “Run for the cave,” I yell towards them. “I want you all out of the way and away from the storm!”

“But—” Steve tries to argue

“Steve, just make sure you and our luggage make it into the cave!” I yell.

When I can see their silhouettes moving, I look at Henry.Now.

Henry doesn’t tell Elodie what he is doing, but wraps an arm around her to shield her from the impact of the fall and cuts the rope right above him. I can hear Elodie screaming in shock and a loud thumping noise. Henry groans in pain.

“HENRY?”

“We are down,” he yells.Come now! I’ll try to catch your fall a bit with my body.

Here goes nothing. “Anthony,” I say. “Trust me.”

“I do,” he says quietly, his face ashen now.

With a swift movement, I let my claws out, ripping the rope in two. I shield Anthony from any impact, my body taking the hit several times against the cliff face. I try to twist our position so I won’t land straight on my back. The impact is surprisingly soft as we land on Henry, who has done his best to stop our fall before we hit the ground too hard. I still feel excruciating pain in my shoulder, and Henry groans in pain too.

“Are you okay?” I breathe out.

“Not important,” he says between gritted teeth.

“You idiots,” Elodie yells before hugging all three of us.

Henry and I take Anthony between us, the poor guy barely conscious anymore, before we run for the cave, with Elodie leading the way. The others are already waiting for us impatiently, their eyes widening when they see how Henry and I limp too. Fortunately, their sense of priorities kicks in, and Marcel and Steve carefully take Anthony away from us to carry him into the depths of the cave.

Elise runs up to us. “Henry got more hurt than I did,” I tell her. She nods, and tugs Henry along. She is the healer in our little group, and I trust her to do her magic now.

“Finn!” Freya approaches me, her eyes wide in worry. She wraps her arm around me and supports me while she leads me into the cave. When I look back, I can see the blizzard blocking my view completely.

“Talk about last minute,” Henry mutters tiredly, thankfully leaning on Elodie and Elise for support.

“For real,” Elodie breathes out. She stays quiet for a while before looking at Henry with a guilty expression. “Sorry.” She blushes a bit. “For hitting you.”

“No.” He chuckles. “That was what I needed.”

“Come now,” I tell them. “I want us all to warm up, help Tony, and then rest.”

Henry smiles slightly. “Yes, boss.”

“Arewehomealready?”Trixie pokes out of Steve’s pocket, frowning slightly when she sees the cave. She rubs her eyes. I’m amazed. She slept through half of our escape.

“No,” Steve explains. “We were caught in a blizzard and just now reached the cave.”

She groans. “I hate the snow.”

Ryllis carefully scoots closer, eyeing the fairy with curiosity. “Are you real?” she whispers.

“Am I real?” Trixie giggles and flutters around Ryllis’ head. “As real as this stupid cave.” She lands on Ryllis’ outstretched palm and sits down there. “I see you found yourself a lady, Steve.”
