“Yes. Steve is making great progress.” Marcel nods proudly. “His wolf is pretty big too and a good fighter.”
Steve blushes at the praise. He is obviously ready to prove himself to his pack and us. I know he is a capable fighter, but he only turned nineteen recently, which means he lacks real world experience. His skills might not be as polished as ours, but he is strong and has good instincts. He’s a gentle giant.
“You’ll see; it’s going to work out well with the twins too,” Steve urges. “And it’s good to have two women around.”
“How come?” Marcel asks curiously.
“Too much testosterone otherwise,” Steve says as he sips his soda.
“Wise words,” Marcel admits.
“Marcel, you need to help keep an eye on Elise and Elodie,” I urge him.
“Why? Are they that much trouble?” he asks, surprised.
“No, but they aren’t eighteen yet. Almost, but not quite. They finished school at seventeen and started working for Eric soon afterward.” I pause. “It’s hard to explain, but they are fully fledged members of the Council already, despite their age.”
Marcel nods. “You’re worried for them.”
“I want to ensure nothing bad happens to them,” I emphasize. Eric wouldn’t have let them join us if they weren’t extremely capable, but still, I want to make sure.
I can hear loud voices coming from the corridor leading to my place. A group of guys and girls seem to be arguing about something. “Wow, aren’t we off to a good start already?” I say as I open the door swiftly, eyeing the troupe before me. Two identical male twins are looking at me in surprise. Both of them are large and tall; it’s obvious they have alpha blood. Their hair is brown, but that’s where the similarities end. One brother has it cut short with an edgy undercut, and the other’s is a bit longer, giving him a softer look. “Anthony and Henry,” I say with a smile, thanking the Goddess that they have different hairstyles, or it would be impossible to tell them apart. I really don’t want to sniff at them all the time to figure out who is who. “Nice to see you guys. Come on in.” I let them slip past me, finally giving me a view of the girls standing right behind them. They’re identical twins too. Unfortunately, they didn’t go for different haircuts, and they’ve even dressed the same. I’m pretty sure they do that to confuse everyone around them. As identical twins, their scent is very similar too.
“Fuck. Couldn’t you have gone for different looks?” I chuckle.
They both flash me a toothy grin. “What would be the fun in that?”
I hug them both. Even though I can sense they already despise Anthony and Henry, I’m glad they’re coming along. My cousin Eric visited us a few months ago and asked them to stay behind and help me out. They are not only very capable but also family, albeit not related. “Nice to see you, Finn.” One of them smiles.
The other one gets on her tiptoes to whisper into my ear. “You can tell us apart by the bracelets we wear. Elodie is wearing one with a cat pendant, and I’m the one with the dog pendant.” She raises her brows. “If you tell anyone though, I’ll castrate you and then switch bracelets with Elodie.”
“Thank you for the warning, Elise.” I grin. “I won’t tell anyone. They’ll be so fascinated that I can tell you apart. They will think it’s my gift. Come on in and meet everyone.”
Actually, my gift would allow me to tell them apart, but using it drains me and I would never use it just for the hell of it.
Once everyone’s inside, I notice Anthony has stretched out on the sofa, not moving an inch for anyone. Elodie doesn’t bat an eye; she just approaches and pushes his legs away to sit down.
“If you want to touch me baby, just say so.” Anthony winks at her.
“No thanks.” She gags. “I don’t want to catch any diseases. I know your reputation with the ladies.”
He glares at her, but she is completely unfazed. Meanwhile, Elise sits down on her lap and chuckles slightly.
Marcel turns to look at me. “Yeah,” he mutters. “I can see what you were scared of.”
“Of us?” Elise chuckles. “We wouldn’t backstab Finn ever. He is Prince Eric’s cousin, and we pledged loyalty to Prince Eric, the Council, and the royal lycans. They took us in when no one else did and gave us a home.”
“Aww, my heart bleeds.” Anthony raises his brows.
“At least some of us know how to spell responsibility.” Elodie defends her sister. “What have you achieved?”
“We are only eighteen,” Anthony shoots back. “Not much time to achieve anything.”
“Steve there is just nineteen himself,” Elise says lazily. “We heard he is working his butt off during training.” When Steve looks at her in surprise, she just shrugs. “We do our homework.”
“You did a background check?” Marcel asks, surprised.
“Of course. On everyone, and you are definitely more our type than that sleazy duo.” Elodie smirks.
