He’d better not,she exclaims.I think he is definitely interested. I saw him look at you, and he was undressing you with his eyes. She pauses. And I mean that in the best way possible. Freya, I don’t get any dangerous vibes from him at all.
A warrior,I chuckle without humor.Never wanted to be mated to one, but well…
He is not a warrior.She snorts.Definitely not!
What? I mean, from what Ludovica told us, they are all warriors and one or two of them are heirs to the beta or gamma position, so…maybe he is the beta’s heir. I know he looks strong but—
He is not a warrior, and he isn’t a beta’s son either, she interrupts me.He emits way too much power. Something is dimming it down, but I can still feel it, probably because we are fated to him. I don’t know who he is, but he is not just a simple warrior!
I’m surprised by her words and let them sink in for a moment. What’s he doing here if he isn’t really a warrior? Why the charade?
Who knows? She sighs.Maybe our alpha finally managed to piss off another pack, and they are investigating his misdeeds?
I love her optimism, but I doubt anyone would be interested enough in our pack to investigate it. However, it doesn’t matter. My mate is here, and now I need to find a way to talk to him. I don’t even know his name! I just know he has these beautiful chocolate brown eyes… and those strong arms. I want him to hold me and—
I think I saw a tongue piercing when he talked to the others,Sereia says out of the blue.Ever wondered how this would feel, you know, down there?
No! I did not wonder how his tongue piercing would feel anywhere on my body. I’ve never had a guy come closer to me than necessary. But now I am wondering, thanks to my wolf.
I’m smiling as I hurry into the kitchen, trying not to look too excited or happy. I still have a job to do, and I need to tell Ryllis what happened! We are making sure she stays away from both the guests and warriors as much as possible to protect her. Ludovica made sure to assign her all the tasks that require her to remain in the kitchen or our storage rooms.
But I need to tell her soon. The Goddess didn’t forget us. She didn’t. We are not the children she threw away like Alpha Colton always claims.
We are not her forgotten children.
She just sent my mate to me!
“Freya.” Ludovica looks at me, easily noticing my unusually bubbly mood, but wisely not commenting on it. “Would you bring some additional snacks to the guests’ rooms? You chosen girls are allowed up on the other floors of the pack house, at least for the time the guests are here.” She pauses, looking at me worriedly. “One guest has already requested for you in particular.”
Would I like to bring some snacks to the guest room? Normally, I’d say no, but something about this situation tells me it’s going to be different. I hope he isn’t going to hurt me. So, yes. Absolutely! I’d love to bring them some food. I almost tear the plate out of Ludovica’s hands as I run to the door. Before I leave, I turn to Ludovica in earnest. “Ludovica, please don’t ask me why. Just trust me when I say, if you need someone to go to our guests today or during any other time, for whatever reason, let it be me.”
She considers me, then, finding whatever answer she was looking for, nods with a warm smile. “As long as you promise me your reason makes you happy.”
“I can’t say for sure yet,” I admit. “But I hope so.”

*FREYA*
Despitemypreviousexcitement,I need a moment to gather my courage before knocking on the door to the guest suites. It’s just…maybe I got carried away in my own thoughts, and he doesn’t really want me. I’m just a pathetic little slave who can’t even shift, and like all weak pack members, I was stripped of all my rights and possessions when I was made a slave. I’m not a particularly curvy woman either—I’m flat as a board and probably too tall for a dominant male wolf’s liking. I know the warriors here prefer their girls to be small and slight.
I’m nothing, and I have nothing.
Strong wolves, like this beautiful god-like creature I’m calling my mate, typically want equally strong mates. In Blood Snow, all mating alliances are like that, and hardly anyone stays with their fated mate. I doubt my mate will want me, and even if he does…how would it ever work?
Knock,Sereia encourages me softly.Trust me, Freya, like you always have. Our gut feeling has always been right.
It’s just that, now my gut feeling tells me to run to prevent us from getting hurt. What if he tells Alpha Colton I’m his mate?My heartbeat increases at the thought. If the alpha finds out, he’ll either kill me, or I’ll get the whipping of my life. I’m lucky he doesn’t know I was fated to his son first, but even so…one of his guests from a different pack turning out to be my mate can be dangerous for me. I can already envision myself being stripped and tied to a post before being whipped until my back is bloody.
Take a deep breath.Sereia’s voice soothes.I helped you with Benjamin, didn’t I? Trust me now.
Okay. I nod to myself. I’ll trust my wolf. Either she is right, and this will turn out well for us, or she is wrong, and we’ll end up dead. It’s a 99% chance it’s the latter—and that’s me being optimistic. I grab the plate tighter, carefully knocking against the door with my free hand. I don’t want to spill anything. I’ve learned from experience that warriors don’t take it lightly if their tea or food gets spilled.
My heart beats so fast I’m scared it’s going to jump out of my chest at any moment. I’m not left waiting for long as the door opens, and I look up into the surprised eyes of one of the men who arrived with my mate. He looks like a warrior too. Strong and lean, with a few tattoos showing on his ebony skin. He looks intimidating, but to my surprise, his eyes radiate warmth and kindness.
“I have some afternoon snacks for you,” I say breathlessly.
