“What happened?” Marcellus joins us, eyeing the mess. “Goddess, Silas! Why the fuck do you always leave your shoes all over the place? It’s no surprise that everyone keeps stumbling over them.”

“Shut up, don’t complain, and help us,” Silas tells him. “You are worse than my mom!”

Marcellus grumbles, but eventually helps us recover the ingredients. In general, Silas tries to keep him out of the kitchen because everything turns into a mess when he is there and tries to help. This time, however, he allows him to stay and helps us prepare our dinner.

“Let’s eat outside,” Marcellus offers. “It’s a warm evening, and with blankets, we should be okay.”

I grab a few blankets while Silas carries the plates outside. There is a little wooden table on the terrace where we sit down. It’s a simple dish we are having, but I like it. The taste of the freshly grown vegetables is different from what I’m used to.

“Look,” Silas says to me when we sit at the dining table, pointing towards the window. “The sun is setting.”

I turn my gaze to the sunset, looking in awe at how it illuminates everything into a rich yellow and orange. Something about the atmosphere draws me in, and it’s like I’m seeing a sunset for the first time in my life.

It feels like the sun never disappears in Sunset Hills.

Epilogue #3 Because of You

*STEVE*

Forourone-yearanniversary,Ryllis and I decided to spend the weekend in a romantic hotel in the countryside with hot springs and a thermal pool. Mom and Dad paid for our stay in a beautiful suite. It’s the first time I’m going to stay in such a luxurious place. Ryllis and I both like it simple, in our cute cottage with the flowers she is growing. She took a lot of classes recently, a lot of them around gardening and flowers, and one baking class. It took a while for her to get back into cooking. After leaving her old life behind, she didn’t want to be reminded of it and tried to avoid anything that would.

But now she is more confident in her skin. She has been going to therapy regularly. Lune Marius helped set her up with a sensitive therapist and made sure she has someone she is comfortable with. He has been a great help to us. And now that she is finishing her classes, he has offered her a job on his event planning team, as he jokingly calls part of his lune duties.

Meanwhile, I’ve joined the elite warriors and have been offered a new rank by Alpha Celine and Lune Marius, which means the love of my life and I will soon be able to be financially independent and give back to the pack that treated us so kindly.

Ryllis runs through our suite excitedly. “This is so beautiful,” she exclaims. “Steve, we have a huge jacuzzi.” She rustles through everything before returning to me and grabbing my hand to tug me outside onto a private balcony. “Look at this,” she exclaims. “The view! It’s so beautiful.”

“You are more beautiful,” I say while I wrap my arms around her. I don’t mind that I sound cheesy and sappy. She is more beautiful than anything else in this world, and no one can convince me otherwise.

Facts!Lynx agrees.

She giggles, turning around in my arms to kiss me softly. “Can we go for a hike tomorrow and let our wolves out? Belle wants to run with Lynx.”

“Of course.” I beam. “It’s a safe place for werewolves here.”

We spend the remainder of the day in the bath outdoors and then roam the area a bit. Ryllis hasn’t been hiking before, so we scope out a hiking trail for tomorrow that accommodates beginners too.

Later we have a romantic five-course dinner that tastes amazing, even if we have no idea what we are eating. We both giggle about that like silly idiots. Apparently, it spikes Ryllis’ interest, though. “I think I’m going to pick up cooking again,” she says. “I always liked it back in… my old pack.”

“You don’t need to force yourself to do something you are not ready for,” I reassuringly say to her.

“I kind of want to learn how to make such an amazing dish,” she admits. “But I just want to do it as a hobby and never for work purposes again.”

“We can learn it together,” I offer.

“You would go to a cooking class with me?”

“Of course, why not?” I tilt my head. “If I know how to cook, I could cook for you. Then I could finally offer you more than some ham and cheese toast.”

She smiles brightly. “I love your ham and cheese toast. But if we take a class together, we could switch, and each Sunday, one of us cooks for the other.”

“That sounds like a fun idea. Let’s do it,” I agree.

After dinner, we go for a little walk around the park that belongs to the hotel before retreating to our suite. Ryllis wants me to shower first, and I oblige before settling on our bed. When she returns from the bathroom, my eyes bulge out. She is wearing a beautiful set of light blue lingerie, and Lynx almost stills in my mind.

“I bought these during my first shopping trip with Annie, Freya, and the others,” Ryllis says, twisting around shyly. “I realized I never showed them to you. Do you like them?”
