Marius blinks, going into slight panic mode instantly. “No, th–that’s not what I meant,” he stutters. “You’re the coolest!”

“It doesn’t count when you say it after you were prompted,” Celine points out.

Wow, this woman is amazing. Merciless sometimes, but amazing. I grin slightly. No one can handle her sassy mate like she does. She is an absolute pro, and it’s one of the many reasons I’m so proud of being her beta.

Marius looks like a lost puppy until Celine decides to put him out of his misery by gracefully putting her hand on his arm. “As long as I’m second coolest,” she states softly.

I snort, making Marius blink at me first, then at her. He pouts. “You were teasing me. I can’t believe it.” He grins, wrapping his arms around her. “You are such a mean mate.”

“Careful,” Garret comments. He and Elias joined us a few minutes ago and heard what Marius was telling us. Now, however, Garret’s teasing nature comes forward again. “She might take out her whip otherwise.”

Celine and I can barely hide our grins.

Marius glares at Garret, though. “Watch out for your own mate, Gamma. He probably owns a whip too.”

We all laugh, especially when Marius and Garret continue to glare at each other. They are a pair to reckon with. After Marius officially joined our pack as the lune and alpha’s mate, they quickly became good friends and tend to have one silly idea after another when together.

Soon, however, Garret skillfully shifts the topic back to Finn and Freya. It’s been mind-blowing for us to hear what the prophecy surrounding her truly meant and that she is indeed a siren hybrid, the first of her kind.

“I’m so glad Finn managed to free the slaves and the suppressed pack members,” Elias mutters. “I wish I could have done it.”

“You helped,” Garret tells him softly. “And you were there to fight.”

He shrugs. “It was the least I could do. Freya was so brave.”

“How are Finn and Freya doing now?” I ask.

“They are fine. I talked to Finn yesterday,” Marius says. “But they are facing a lot of work.” His eyes shine in pride for his brother. “Finn is exactly the alpha Ocean Snow needs. And he and Freya complement each other well.”

“Just like Steve and Amaryllis,” I say, feeling incredibly proud of how patient and loving my brother is with his mate. By now, we know that her former alpha let his men rape her, and it’s just so sickening to know what they did to her. But she is slowly healing and coming around. Marius has very carefully started to involve her in his work, asking for her to help prepare flowers for pack festivals and the like. It’s helped her to come further out of her shell.

“Finn really proved himself.” Celine smiles. “I know how it feels to be seen as an outsider or incapable concerning the alpha rank. It’s not easy to take it when a lot of people think you might not be suited for it. For me, it was because I am a female werewolf; for Finn, because he is not the firstborn.”

“So, it seems like I am the only Alcott not mated to a charity case?” Marius muses.

I glare at him. “Annie is my sister,” I huff. “And lune or not, if you call her a charity case again, I’ll kick your ass!”

“I wouldn’t call Freya a charity case either,” Elias points out.

Marius rubs over his head. “I swear I didn’t mean it that way. Damn it, you know I tend to talk without thinking.”

I sigh, rolling my eyes. “I know. We love you despite that.”

Celine turns around to take his face between her hands, pulling him towards her into a kiss. “Be nice,” she whispers.

He smiles lovingly at her and nods. “Don’t worry. I’ll be nice to our guests.”

Our guests are a few warriors from Silverlake who are accompanying a lycan with an unknown heritage. He and his sister were part of Ocean Snow, landing there by accident when they were kids. After Finn and Freya took over, they discovered they are related to Elden and left to venture out into the world and find their roots. The man’s name is Arman, and it seems he wants to see other werewolf and lycan packs and learn how they are usually run.

A black SUV makes its way toward the parking lot next to the pack house, and I can’t help feeling more and more curious. Annie called me yesterday and told me he is quite a sight for sore eyes, and my sister normally only ogles her mate. It has me curious now.

The man getting out of the car after the warriors indeed makes my mouth drop open. He has bronze skin, dark hair, dark-brown eyes, and the most perfect chiseled face I’ve ever seen. He looks like an Arab prince.

Garret raises a brow. “Who is that Egyptian sculpture approaching us now? Is that Arman?”

The living sculpture pushes past everyone and approaches us with long strides. My heart beats so fast that it almost jumps out of my chest. The scent of pinewood, ginger, and wild roses hits me.

My wolf perks up instantly, going crazy in my mind.Mate, she cries out.Mate!
