“That we need to make sure there are equal opportunities,” I grin. I stand up. “Come, Group Butterwaffle needs some backup.”
Anders looks at me, then, to my surprise, he laughs slightly. “Alright.”
“You’re joining the enemy,” Frankie whispers, glaring at him. “You’re dead.”
“Absolutely dead.” Liam chuckles.
“You can only lose if you go against your mate.” Dad smirks.
“Kids.” Frankie turns to her group. “Get into position. This is personal now!”
The whole group scrambles through the room, hiding behind chairs and curtains. Ludovica wisely takes her leave, shaking her head slightly, but an amused smile curls her lips.
“Don’t show mercy to the enemy,” Frankie commands.
“The enemy, that’s us,” I grab Anders and pull him to the side, opening the door. In the corridor, I can see a little group of older kids running around. Now it makes sense why Frankie is part of the group. In reality, she is just watching out for the youngest ones. “Group Butterwaffle,” I call out. “They are here!”
“Alpha.” a boy looks at me, surprised.
“Ready for attack?” I ask them.
The group runs towards me, hiding behind Anders and me. “Ready!”
*FREYA*
Finn has been in a meeting with his brother and father for hours. Meanwhile, I had to organize some things in town, had a brief lesson with Aenon and Nen, and then planned the upcoming activities for the pack. Finn and I reviewed the budget recently and decided on a budget for celebrations with the pack.
We want to hold a bonfire soon to have everyone come together and relax. With mulled wine, marshmallows, potatoes, and sausages on a stick. It’s simple, fun, and won’t cost much.
Finn joins me later that day with Anders. They pick me up for a little walk through the pack and see how everyone is doing. We have been strolling through the area for half an hour when my gaze falls on something white in Finn’s hair.
“What’s that in your hair?” I ask in surprise.
“Oh shoot,” he brushes through his hair. “There’s still flour sticking to it?”
“Flour?” I blink.
“Yeah, it sucks,” Finn mutters. “It’s so hard to get rid of, and it’s even worse because my hair is black.”
“You shouldn’t complain, Alpha,” Anders mutters, moving his finger to his ear and poking it. “Frankie emptied the whole bottle of whipped cream on me.”
“Dad was right.” Finn grins. “There was no chance you’d win. You should have sided with her group instead.”
“Yeah, if it weren’t for my alpha demanding we should back up the other kids.” Anders frowns.
“Conflict of interest,” Finn points out dryly. “Well, I didn’t dump flour on my mate, so I’m safe.”
I listen to them amused, slowly putting two and two together. “Seems like you had an intense meeting today.”
“You have no idea.” Finn grins. “Assigning Frankie to help Ludovica in the orphanage was a fantastic idea.”
“You think so?” Anders grumbles.
“My Luna only has great ideas,” Finn points out.
Anders looks a bit gruff and flustered. I wonder what the heck went down in that food fight they had. Frankie is a force to be reckoned with. I’d pity Anders, but he needs someone like her to help him come out of his shell and loosen up and have some fun.
“Come on,” Finn laughs. “Don’t be such a grump. It was fun.”
