“Hello, Alpha,” I say teasingly while stepping into his office.
His eyebrow pops up. “Oh, I like that.”
“I knew you would.” I chuckle, approaching him and wrapping my arms around him.
I love him more and more every day. He made sure to stick to his word, and the situation of the former slaves and omegas is so much different from only a few weeks ago. During the past few days, we’ve spoken to every pack member to see what kind of work they want to do and how they want to contribute to the pack. Some have voiced their wish to study and go for higher education—something Colton only allowed for high-ranking members.
The community college is not far from Ocean Snow, but the road to the city is awful, which is why our first act was to rebuild it and have it widened and secured properly so that everyone could come and go easily, even during bad weather.
He kisses my palms. “I have a few things to discuss with you. I want to know your opinion.”
Another thing I love about him. My opinion actually matters to him. “Sure.” I nod curiously.
“Two of the former rogues approached me with an idea today,” Finn tells me.
“Really? What kind of idea?”
“Well, you know we have a whole bunch of pack members who want to study, and we have minors returning to school,” he pauses. “I was wondering how they could reach the town safely every day.”
“Right,” I say. This is a problem we have already discussed a few times. Despite the road being better now, it still is a long way for the younger ones to get to town. “Having them shift and run to the city would be too dangerous,” I muse. “Besides, most minors can’t shift yet.”
“Exactly. And I don’t want them to rely on online classes,” Finn points out. “It’s nice for them to finally be able to socialize and see outside the pack.”
Again, I can only nod. I plan to go for an online diploma with some of the other lower-ranking adult wolves. None of us has the time to visit a school in person, so an online class is the perfect solution for us. But actual pupils and students? Finn’s right; I don’t want them to be prevented from doing something so ordinary.
“And what did the two men offer?” I ask curiously.
Finn smirks. “Happens that they both have a bus driving license.”
“Wait… what?” My eyes widen. “Does this mean…”
“I’ll buy an old bus and have our pack mechanics fix it up. We can offer a shuttle service then,” he says. “It won’t be perfect, and we certainly can’t have a bus drive around the whole day, but we could adapt to the student’s schedules and maybe drive an extra round to pick people up sometimes. I want the regular pack members to have the freedom to go to town to eat, shop, or do whatever they want to.”
I beam. “That’s fantastic! Maybe we can have a few more members get their license so we can broaden the shuttle service and have it drive to the mall on Saturdays.”
“That’s a wonderful idea!” He makes a few notes on his notepad. “Now, Ludovica. She took over the orphanage, right?”
I nod. This is more my area of expertise. “I talked to her today. She gave me a list of things they still need to be able to run at a hundred percent, but for now it’s going pretty smoothly. She has her hands full with the kids though, so I figure she needs some help.”
“Any ideas?”
I smile. “Frankie,” I point out. “She has so much energy. I think she would be fantastic with kids of all ages.”
Finn grins. “And she wouldn’t distract my beta all the time, then.”
“He is easily distracted,” I point out, instantly defending my friend.
“Absolutely true.” Finn smirks. “But I can’t blame him. I mean, who can resist their mate being so close.” His lips move closer to my neck, kissing it softly.
“Alpha Finn.” I laugh. “Focus.”
“My mate has a safe word, it seems,” he says. “Using work against me.” He tsked, grinning slightly.
He has no idea how hard it is to resist his charms. “Let me distract you with some information, then,” I say. “Odette said she found out quite a bit of information about the former rogues.”
“She can visit me later today to discuss it,” he points out.
“She also wants to join the warrior training,” I explain. “Seems like a few she-wolves are ready for training.”
