For the first time in days, I don’t feel anxious about the upcoming battle. I have to face this. It’s my destiny.Right, Sereia?

We were born ready.Sereia pops up in my mind. Her fur is black, so dark that it’s almost blue.I won’t leave you alone in this.

I need a moment to grasp what’s going on. I can see her. Fully. Not just a hint of her, not just her head or her eyes, she is here, in her complete, beautiful wolf form, moving around in my mind and wagging her tail. I’ve never seen her so clearly before. I put my cookie down on the plate again before I stand up. “I need to see Finn,” I breathe out.

Flora smiles. “Of course, sweetheart.”

I don’t dare to link him, too scared I will lose my connection to Sereia if I do so. Instead, I follow his scent until I find him leaving his father’s office with Liam. “Finn,” I blurt out, jumping into his arms.

Finn is surprised but catches me easily. He wraps his arms around me. “What a nice way to be greeted,” he jokes.

“I can see Sereia,” I tell him without further introduction. “Fully. Not just a hint of her. She is here, in my mind, and she is so beautiful.”

Finn’s eyes widen. Something black flashes in them, and then I can feel another presence connecting with mine.

That’s Max,Sereia exclaims, her ears standing straight in expectation.Human, I love you, but I need to retreat now and talk to my sexy mate.

I chuckle before allowing her to retreat, so that she can connect to her other half.

Finn kisses me softly. “I’m so happy for you,” he says.

I smile brightly before it finally dawns on me that we are not alone. I untangle myself from Finn’s arms, who furrows his brows and is not ready to let me go. Then I turn to Liam, feeling more than a bit embarrassed. “I apologize,” I stutter.

“What for?” Liam chuckles. “There is nothing better than having our mates in our arms.”

I blush a bit. “True, and I think I just gained my wolf back fully.”

Liam smiles. “That’s the best news,” he agrees, looking at me thoughtfully. “You’ve never shifted, I’ve heard.”

“Unfortunately not.” I pause. “I’m not sure if I can do that…”

“Well,” Liam looks at me, his eyes clouding while his gaze lingers on me. “The presence of your wolf is strong. She is not weak.”

“Maybe I am weak…” I muse.

“No,” Finn says with insistence, almost glaring at me for insulting myself.

“Do you know your gift?” Liam asks.

“I… I’m not sure,” I admit.

Liam stares at me, only turning his head slightly when his father steps out of the office too. “You young peeps are making so much noise. But YOLO, I guess.”

“Excuse me.” Finn looks close to bursting into laughter. “Did you just say, peeps? And YOLO?”

“Felix always uses those words,” Elden says dryly. “I couldn’t resist.”

“Dad, that’s just awkward…” Finn grins.

“Oh, is it?” Elden raises an eyebrow. “And snuggling with your mate in front of my office isn’t?”

“That’s something else,” Finn mutters while I feel my cheeks heating up again.

Elden smirks before turning towards me. “I couldn’t help but overhear,” he admits. “And I’d like to hear the answer to Liam’s question too.”

I sigh sadly. “I’m not sure if I have gifts,” I admit.

“Were you tested?” Elden asks me. “I feel stupid for only asking this now, but with everything going on, I didn’t think about it.”
