“We had a whole discussion earlier today when you were with Aurelia finding some clothes.”
I look at her curiously, waiting for her to continue.
“I’m paying for Ryllis,” Annie tells me. “Steve doesn’t have that much money. My family has always been very kind and loving to me, despite me being of lower rank, and I want to return the favor.” When I blink at her, she smiles. “My family consists of very strong beta wolves, I’m the only one who tested omega. My sister is Celine’s beta, Steve is already training to become a warrior and I’m sure he will be one of the elites soon, and he is only nineteen. My father was almost chosen for the beta position back then too. And then there is me, the omega girl. Not once did they give me the feeling I was anything less than them.”
I smile at her. “It shows.”
“That’s why I asked Steve and my parents to allow me to cover Ryllis’ expenses today.”
I look at her curiously. “Do you have enough money for that?”
She grins. “Well, I’m working too, you know? There is my income as a luna, but not only that, I’m working for the Council too.”
My eyes widen at her words, and at the same time, it makes me hopeful that I can achieve something similar. Finn told me he would support me in anything I want to do.
“Hey girls.” Ella comes searching for us. “Did we lose you?”
“No, we are right here.” Annie smiles. “Freya was looking at some pieces.”
“I am having a difficult time deciding, though,” I say. “I might need some help.”
Ella grins. “Hopefully not mine. I’m hopeless, but Celine is excellent, and she’ll make sure that Finn wants to devour you every second.”
I’m starting to feel slightly more interested now. “Really?”
“Come and see for yourself,” Annie chuckles.
For the next hour, we all run around looking at different pieces and styles. I have no idea what might fit me, though, and Ryllis has similar problems going for dark and modest designs most of the time.
“You always pick muted colors, Amaryllis,” Annie analyzes.
Ryllis looks a bit flustered. “That’s because…I’m used to it. We weren’t…we weren’t allowed…” Her voice trails off.
“I see,” Annie says gently. “And if you could choose anything you like, which patterns do you like the most?”
Ryllis looks at her questioningly. “You mean my favorite piece here?”
When Annie nods, Ryllis roams the shelves before taking a cute top into her hands. It’s white, out of a soft and fluttery fabric, with tiny flowers in different colors on it. On anyone else, it might look a bit cutesy, but Ryllis is small and has a delicate figure. In addition, with her big eyes, she can definitely pull this design off.
Annie beams. “Awesome. You like cute and colorful pieces,” she exclaims. “Ella, let’s gather everything that falls into this category.”
Fifteen minutes later, they shove Ryllis to the changing rooms with an armada of clothes. Annie picked pastel colors and sweet prints for her. There are a bunch of trousers and skirts too, and a few dresses. At first glance, there is nothing revealing within the bounty of clothing, and it seems like these girls are way more aware of Ryllis’ trauma than I thought they would be. Ryllis looks shocked at the massive amount of clothes at first, and then she laughs slightly.
Meanwhile, Celine turns to me. “And you?” she asks curiously.
“I have no idea,” I admit. “I don’t even know what would suit me.”
Celine’s eyes light up. Despite her dignified attitude, she looks excited all of a sudden. “A new challenge,” she exclaims. “Pity that Dave isn’t around. He would have been really up for it.” She checks me over. “So, you are slender, and quite tall.” She furrows her brows, checking the shelves. “Light skin tone, red hair…so, I’d say green and blue are really going to be your colors. The right shade of red too. And I bet you would look smoking in black. No earthy colors, though, and definitely no orange.”
“Just make sure to cover my non-existent cleavage,” I point out.
Celine smiles at me. “Every body type has its ups and downs. You might not have much cleavage to show, but you have great legs and a beautiful long neck.” She turns to face Aurelia, who has been following us quietly. “What do you think? Freya in black jeans and a simple white shirt?”
“Oh yes, Finn would love it.” She chuckles. “And that long-sleeved teal dress.”
“I trust you girls.” I laugh.
“Do you like frilly stuff and colorful designs?” Celine wants to know.
