He glares.Food!
And then, like he is a little kid, he continues.Food! Food! Food!
I try to shove him to the back of my mind, feeling both annoyed and amused at the same time. He is right, though; we all need to eat. To my relief, my parents pop up now too and lead us all to the dining table. Mom wasn’t joking when she said she would prepare plenty of food. Next to me, I can see Freya gaping. “Who’s going to eat all that?” she whispers, amazed.
Anthony grins, confidently striding towards the table. He helps his mother to sit down before sitting next to Henry. “Wait and see,” he smirks.
“Bacon,” Marcel beams excitedly. “Oh, old friend, how I missed you.”
“I dreamed about it for many nights,” Elodie agrees, glaring when Henry wants to take the plate with bacon.
“Don’t worry.” Mom giggles. “We have enough for everyone. There is more in the kitchen.”
Freya takes a little bit of bread and scrambled eggs. I shake my head, grabbing her plate and loading it with all kinds of stuff. “And who’s supposed to eat all that?” she asks me, amused.
“Don’t worry. Max is hungry. Whatever you can’t eat, he will,” I grin.
She laughs and accepts the plate.
Marcel, who is sitting opposite us, watches us in fond amusement. Now his eyes seem to be attached to Freya’s neck, though. He drops his forks and gasps, his bacon dropping out of his mouth again. “I didn’t even notice,” he exclaims.
“What?” Henry asks curiously, leaning towards Marcel to follow his gaze. His eyes widen, and he gives me the thumbs up. “Yes, man, there you go!”
Oh no. I groan. I completely forgot about it…and now there is no stopping the whirlwind of emotions A.K.A. my mom. “You marked her!” Mom blurts out excitedly, jumping up from her seat and running around the table. She squeals as she throws her arms around Freya.
I glare at Marcel, who shifts around a bit. “Sorry, man,” he mutters, flustered.
“Mom,” I try to peel her arms off my mate, but she is not budging a bit.
“Are all families like this?” Freya asks me quietly while struggling a bit for air.
“No.” Jace laughs loudly. “This one is just special.”
“You’re one to talk.” Henry frowns at his father.
Jace glares at him. Before he can say something to his son, Janice smacks his shoulder. “He is right,” she says. “Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.”
Eventually, my father takes mercy on Freya and me, and lures Mom away from us. He nods at me with a smile, clearly approving of me having marked her.
Congratulations,he says through our mind link.I hope you know how happy I am that you found your mate.
I smile.Thank you.
She seems to be quite special going by your mother’s reaction,he says. And she is incredibly strong. I’m happy the Moon Goddess rewarded you with such a wonderful mate.
Even if she didn’t have any powers, I would have been over the moon,I admit.
He shows me a genuine smile.I know.
Once Mom and Dad returned to their seats, everyone continued eating their breakfast. Freya looks torn between feeling embarrassed and happy by all the attention. She rests her hand on my knee under the table, rubbing it softly.
The contact makes Max purr slightly; he momentarily forgets his passion for food. Seems like his passion for his mate outweighs that. The rest of the breakfast continues in a relaxed atmosphere. We are all enjoying the peace and the comfort of home.
I know that soon we need to discuss how to progress from here.
There is still the promise I gave to Freya to save the other slaves of her pack. And I don’t intend to break my promise. Besides, Colton attacked us directly, something my father and Jace don’t take too kindly. Colton might not have known that the twins and I are alpha’s children, but his ignorance won’t protect him anymore.
Dad and Jace will definitely make sure Colton and Blood Snow are dealt with, which will fulfill my promise to free Freya’s friends and the rest of the abused pack members.
