His displeasure for his warriors didn’t stem from them mistreating a poor she-wolf. It comes from doing it in front of us. It means this behavior is so typical for the warriors that they can’t even control themselves in front of outsiders.
Alpha Colton definitely knows that what they are doing is a crime, and he just doesn’t mind. He likes it. Something is seriously wrong with this guy!
Fortunately, Steve and I make it to our rooms without further interruptions. The others already expect us, and I make sure that when I rip open the door, I raise my voice for everyone around us to hear us. “Everyone, I have bad news!” I exclaim.
Steve nods, still wearing a gloomy look. He is a natural.
It seems to work because some guards turn to look at us, nodding a bit into our direction. They probably already heard the news. News travels fast, and it’s good to further plant some seeds.
The next one to make a splendid academy-award worthy performance is Elise because she clasps her hand in front of her mouth, a sob escaping her lips. “No,” she sobs. Marcel pulls her into a soothing hug while I close the door.
And did it work?Anthony asks.
I’m not sure. Alpha Colton…something feels off about him,I admit.
Steve nods.
We’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning,I order.Tonight, I’ll make sure to ask for Freya’s services.I pause, remembering what she asked me for.And for those of her friend.I haven’t seen her until now, but I know Freya is worried for her the most.
We are going to travel with two girls?Marcel asks.
Freya won’t leave without her.I pause. However, it might actually be to our advantage.
He is right,Elodie chimes in with her usual rational attitude.Freya and this other girl are like sisters. The nurses in the infirmary were pretty talkative and told us about the omegas and slaves here. They assume her friend might not make it much longer if she stays here. They also believe that Freya would try to get her out of here.
This is great news! If everyone expects Freya to run, it won’t raise too many questions.
The nurses didn’t seem too bad,Elise tells us.They seemed a bit scared. They told us fated mates were not a thing, and how they were chosen for some random warriors. Not all men are bad, though. They said there are many lower-ranking pack members and a few lower ranking warriors who have no choice but to follow the alpha’s command.
We need to make sure to free the innocent pack members,Anthony points out.
It’s good that they suspect Freya wants to run away.Marcel muses. Then it will look like these two worked together to escape.
We’ll discuss the details with them tonight,I say.How was the training?I ask Marcel and the twins.
Henry frowns.I’m not going to lie. Some of the elite warriors are okay. That Arman is fantastic, you’re right; he definitely is at least part lycan.
They are easily above us in numbers,Marcel agrees. Our skills are better though.
That might be true,Henry adds thoughtfully. But they know the area better. They can handle the snow, know how to move through it, and use it to their advantage. We don’t have that knowledge on our side.
It’s the first time he sounds like a future leader to me. I can’t help but feel a bit proud. We have no plan B,I remind them.Actually, this right now is plan B. We need to tread carefully and not raise any suspicions. Try to act normal tonight. Or better: Try to act normal on Blood Snow standards. I want you guys to ogle up some girls, maybe tell the warriors sitting next to you how hot this or that girl is. Steve and I will pretend to be grieving and won’t be that outgoing.
They all nod nervously. We got you,Elodie promises.
And just as a reminder. No matter what I say tonight, I want you all to go along with it.

Freya’sscentlingersinthe air, and it’s the only thing keeping me sane. My nerves are thin, and although I lack the intense dominance my father and brother could display as alphas, I’m still of alpha blood, and I’m pissed. Majorly pissed. Even my couch potato wolf is angry and restless. Injustice always got to us, even when I was still in school. And nowhere have I seen greater injustice until now than here in Blood Snow.
Every day it gets more difficult to rein Max in and to reason with him that a direct attack would do more harm than help the victims.
I’ll be so glad when I’m out of here and can gather an army to return and tear this place and their psychopath alpha down! And most of all, I’ll be glad when my mate is safe and away from here.
