Missionschoolbus,as Emmanuel calls it, happens to be a tremendous success, and a few pack members instantly volunteered to get their licenses so that we could broaden the service. By now, I’ve officially announced Emmanuel as the pack’s delta, and he has proven to be invaluable.
He helps to keep the pack running by looking at the smaller problems.
If there is a power outage in one of the cottages? Emmanuel is your man. Need more supplies of school books, pencils, and the likes? Emmanuel is the one to contact. Pack members have smaller issues they can’t solve; Emmanuel comes to the rescue.
Goddess, I love that dude… in the most platonic sense ever. He is fantastic. We are sitting in one of the meeting rooms now, going through some work details, when his eyes glaze over.
“Alpha Elden and Alpha Liam just arrived at the pack house,” he tells me. “Beta Anders is accompanying them. Shall he bring them here or to your office?”
“Here, please,” I tell him.
“Do you need anything else, Alpha?”
“Yes, check on the warrior training for me, and see if they have everything they need. Especially the she-wolves who joined the training,” I tell him. Recently, some females have started attending training, Odette being one of them.
“Of course.” Emmanuel beams and scurries away, just before my brother and father arrive.
“You’re early.” I greet them with a smile.
“We didn’t know you changed the portal to the pack grounds. We thought it was still where it was during the attack,” Dad explains while sitting in one of the chairs. “Comes in handy that you have two witches in your pack.”
“I’m not going to lie.” I say with a sigh. “We are still low on numbers, so the witches are of great help.”
“You’re doing well, though,” Liam points out. “I know how difficult it is to rebuild a broken pack.”
“Yes, your pack was completely broken when you took over.” I smile. “Ocean Snow thankfully has a working infrastructure and finances. Rather, our problem is that over half of the warriors are gone now.”
“Good riddance, though,” Dad says in a matter-of-fact tone. “They’re not the kind of warriors any pack wants.”
“True, but it leaves us vulnerable.”
“You can rely on us for support until your warriors are trained enough to guard the pack,” Liam says. “I told you our men will stay until you’re ready.”
“What else is new?” I ask them.
“We found a pack for Benjamin,” Dad explains.
“You did? That was fast!”
“It helped that he didn’t put up any fight,” Liam points out. “We’ll send him to a relatively new and small pack. They don’t care about rank because there aren’t many members yet. Furthermore, it’s a pack full of outsiders and wolves who need a second chance.”
“Rank doesn’t mean anything there? That’s exactly what might help Benjamin,” I muse. “Do you think he will manage to turn over a new leaf?”
“He did try to stop his father,” Liam muses. “But it’s still going to be difficult. I’ve talked to him and used my gift on him. His father was merciless… and beat him senseless.”
“We can’t change the past,” Dad says. “We found a peaceful and kind pack for him. Now it’s up to him. This is his second chance. There won’t be a third.”
“Is the pack safe?” I ask, worried. A small, new pack… hopefully they won’t be wiped out by rogues.
“They are co-existing with a coven,” Liam explains. “And they have a strong sister pack close by. It’s a social experiment by said mother pack to rehabilitate those who messed up once and are… morally gray, you could say. They ran it by the Council a few months ago, and their project got approved. So far, it’s proven to be successful.”
“Good.” I nod. “One less thing to worry about.”
“Then let’s talk business now,” Dad says. “You said you have a few ideas?”
I nod. With Freya’s and Anders’ help, I put together a folder for them with all our ideas on improving the pack’s finances and benefiting the family business. The area here is not the usual type of land for real estate projects, but I firmly believe it would be great for holiday houses.
