Odette beams, full of pride for being tasked with something important to do. “Of course, Alpha. I’ll go through the list and see what I can uncover.”

With Odette dashing off and the former rogues following Ludovica into the pack house, the other members slowly return to work too. Finn sends his warriors to get some rest. Only Matthew stays, hugging Emmanuel.

Emmanuel kisses him softly and leans against him when Matthew puts his arm around his shoulder. I feel so happy for Emmanuel. He was always so kind and brave; he deserves to be happy.

“And what about my kiss?” Finn asks.

Matthew grins. “I apologize, Alpha, but you’re not my type.”

Finn glares at him while Emmanuel and I almost break down laughing. “Don’t get too bold,” he grumbles at Matthew, but soon chuckles too, and pulls me into his arms.

There is so much I want to ask him about how he found the rogues and how he managed to convince them to come back without anyone getting hurt, and I want to tell him how proud of him I am for giving them the chance to return to their home. I try to convey it all through my feelings so he can feel it through the mate bond.

Finn’s arms tighten around me, and he smiles.

Our moment gets interrupted by Anders and Frankie approaching us. “Alpha,” Anders greets Finn politely.

“Beta,” Finn returns earnestly, making Anders look flustered for a moment.

“What I wanted to say… I mean,” Anders starts, apparently confused by Finn’s deadpan answer.

“We met a group of former rogues,” Frankie chimes in, grinning brightly. “And one of them was holding Ludovica’s hand and looking at her like she was his savior. Oh man, we missed the best part, didn’t we? Could it be that they are second-chance mates?”

“He is a rogue,” Finn explains. “So, even if there is a mate bond between them, it will only be very light. Maybe one day he will recover his wolf spirit fully, then they will know for certain.”

“I doubt it will be important to Ludovica.” Frankie grins. “She already had a shit mate once! I know I was overjoyed to find my good guy here.” She pats Anders’ chest.

Finn looks at her, amused. Even without saying anything, I know what he thinks. Frankie and Anders are the most unlikely pair ever, and they are going to be quite the match. “I see you didn’t waste any time,” Finn says towards Anders and points at Frankie’s neck.

Anders looks like he wants the ground to open and swallow him while Frankie beams confidently. “Of course! I had this fine man claim me instantly.”

“Frankie, please.” Emmanuel winks at her. “Let’s not go back to the talk we had before. Not with our men around.”

Frankie and I both burst into giggles.

“What was that about?” Finn asks curiously.

I turn around in his arms, leaning my back against his chest. “Nothing for your ears.”

“Or for yours, either,” Emmanuel says to Matthew.

“I wouldn’t mind,” Frankie muses.

“That’s exactly the problem.” Emmanuel grins.

Finn snorts and nuzzles his nose into my neck.

Finnhasaskedmeto join him in his office. Over the last few days, he took over the alpha office and got into the work that needed doing. Fortunately, he was always prepared to take over an important role. Even if it weren’t that of alpha, he would have taken on a leadership role, either in the Council or as an advisor.

I have my own little office too, although most of my work still consists of running around and organizing things. But I might need it in the future once things are more settled.

I wish we could have had a longer honeymoon phase. We met while I was a slave, and he was undercover. Then we bonded while on the run and had only a few weeks to relax. However, it doesn’t matter anymore. I have a lifetime with Finn, and I love that I can finally do something useful.
