“I’m innocent.” I grin. “But I doubt Garret will ever let him live it down.”
Liam rubs over his forehead in amusement. “At least it never gets boring with you guys.” He turns to Freya again. “When this is over, you and Finn must visit Annie and me and meet the kids.”
Freya beams, as usual, adapting to a new situation fast and warming up around Liam too. “I’d love to.”
Liam looks at her for a while. “You’ve been very brave for standing up against Colton and defending those who needed protection. You and Finn truly deserve each other, and I mean that in the best way possible.” He nods towards both of us firmly. “I’ll make sure to help you free Blood Snow. Fenris is already stretching his paws and clawing at my mind to let him out toeat some bad guys,as he calls it.”
“Good to have you on board,” I say in relief. “Aurelia is joining us too. And Marius will lead the warriors of Moon Blood.”
“Finally, the time has come to fight alongside some of my siblings,” Liam stretches his neck a bit.
“Even Mom is coming along.”
Liam snorts. “Hopefully, she won’t turn it into a bloodbath.”
“Have you ever seen her fight?” I ask curiously.
“Just once.” He shrugs with a lopsided grin. “It’s kind of creepy to watch her fight. She looks like an angel, but in reality, she can be lethal.” He pauses. “So, Mom and Dad are both joining?” He frowns. “That’s unusual. Are they plotting something?”
I blink in confusion, exchanging a glance with Freya. “I’m not sure.” I furrow my brows. “I wouldn’t put it past them, though.”
The next few hours fly by. Due to Blood Snow’s location, we can’t arrive with too many warriors. We’ve decided to take some of our best and—most importantly—stealthiest men and women and go for quality over quantity. Colton’s men are pretty terrible, which shows in the way they can barely handle the rogue attacks. And now, with Elias and Freya helping us, we know enough about the pack’s surroundings to not give Colton too much of an advantage.
I can already feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins. This will be the first time I’m going to battle with my two older brothers and my sister. Something about this feels very special. All of them came to support me in avenging my mate. It means more to me than I could voice with words.
Freya will arrive with us but won’t join the battle. Mom offered to stay with her, together with her beta and gamma, just to make sure. I can see Liam is surprised by her offer, but he doesn’t comment on it, and I forget about it pretty fast. The most complicated part will be to reach the pack grounds. When I led my group there, we needed days, and obviously, no one wants to take that long this time. Thankfully, with Celine’s help, we are also offered assistance from some witches who will open a portal for us to travel through.
“Awesome.” Dad sighs. “Traveling through a weird portal. How I love it. Where will it lead us to?”
“Approximately two hours away from the pack grounds, by foot, as wolves, it will be far closer. Pretty close to the cliff we climbed down when we fled. There is a forest nearby, so that’s to our advantage,” I mutter.
“Can’t the portal take us any closer?” Aurelia wants to know.
Mom shakes her head. “Witches need to have been at a place to open a portal there. A powerful witch could try to open one without having been at the place by connecting to its life force. I think it will be possible with Elodie’s and Elise’s help.”
“I didn’t know they have witch powers.” Freya looks at me, surprised.
“They have learned some witchcraft,” I tell her. “Nothing major, but it’s enough for what we need.”
“The plan is to surround the pack from all directions without them noticing,” Aurelia says. “So once we land there, we need to lead different groups to different areas.”
“She is right. We need to split up.” Liam agrees. “Colton’s men are weak, considering they can’t even fend off rogues. They also never mingle with other packs, which means they lack a lot of information on how other packs fight and train.”
“We should keep the teams small,” I say. “But stealthy. Big numbers won’t be to our advantage in this snowy area, which is why a guerilla tactic is what we need.”
“Yes.” Liam and Aurelia nod.
“The best option would be to choose warriors who are strong fighters and good trackers at the same time,” Liam muses. “We can approach silently like this and be deadly in our attack.”
“Quality is better than quantity.” Aurelia agrees. “I have trained a lot with our sentinels and trackers recently. We can move without being seen.”
“Our weakest point is that we didn’t have enough time to train together,” Liam points out. “We are several packs working together, which gives us the advantage of attacking with the best possible warriors, but gives us the disadvantage of not having trained together.”
“True, but if we keep the teams separated, and every pack leads their own little team, then we should be able to remain in control,” I say.
“Yes.” Liam frowns. “But we will need the ability to mind link to communicate. Most of us will have shifted and will need the mind link. Mom can hopefully help us with that.”
“That’s a good point,” I say, realizing I haven’t thought about that myself. Liam has come into this with a lot of valuable experience.
