Page 129 of Stay With Me Forever

“Mostly. But I think we should make them wait a little longer before sharing the news so we can get on with the decorating.”

Avery bobbed her head. “Yes! I still want to make my gingerbread house parts today with Aunt Abby, so we need to get busy.”

Wyatt and Avery went to the tub and bags and started taking things out.

West murmured for my ears only. “Maybe Abby and Aunt Lori will watch them for an hour or two while we celebrate in private.”

I tried my best to keep my expression serious. “And neglect your kids?”

He covertly slapped my ass. “It’s part of that two percent I get for myself. And I thought my fiancée would be thrilled. Especially since I was going to do that producer fantasy of hers.”

“This must be the special occasion you were saving it for.”

West grinned. “The very one. I’ve been planning this for weeks now.”

I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I love you.”

He held me close. “I love you too.”

He kissed me gently. Once he broke it, we stared at each other, and happiness bubbled up inside me. This wonderful man was going to be mine. Forever.

And more than anything, I wanted some alone time to celebrate. “Well, if we want to try out that fantasy, then we need to get busy and start decorating for your aunt.”

“Our news will make her happier, though. Especially since she might start harassing Beck and Sabrina, and I’m here for it.”

“Be nice. Some people need more time.” I paused and asked, “I hope you didn’t think you had to propose so early, West. I know we talked of being together one day, but I could’ve juggled dating and your kids and my business for as long as needed.”

“No, I don’t regret proposing so early, Emmy. I can’t imagine a day when I wouldn’t want to wake up with you at my side, or to see you at dinner, or make corny comments while watching movies with the kids. You’re it for me, Emilia Mendoza. I’m ready to start our forever.”

“Me too. You’ve helped me heal, discover myself again, and who could resist your kids? No one, that’s who. They’re your secret weapon.”

His lips twitched. “So I played no part in your decision to marry me?”

“Maybe a teeny, tiny part.”

He growled. “You’re going to pay for that later.”

Laughing, I broke free and went over to Avery and Wyatt. “Okay, so let’s get decorating!”

I looked over my shoulder, and West mouthed, “Coward.”

And so I stuck my tongue out at him.

Soon the four of us were decorating, getting the ornaments up, and singing Christmas carols. When Abby and the others arrived later—the entire Wolfe family except Zane, plus Sabrina and Katie—there was a lot of hugging and congratulations and even a few tears.

But they were all from happiness.

And much, much later, West did finally play out that producer fantasy with me and was very, very thorough during his inspection between my thighs. I came three times.

When we finally went to bed, we snuggled close, and I dreamed of what our life would look like. And I couldn’t wait to marry my single dad orc and get started.
