“Me scary?” I laughed out of my chest. “You’re my sister. You can always talk to me. I have one request. Just be nice to Valentina. She’s excited to have a sister.” There was no way I was going to tell Alexis that Valentina had a twin and that twin was murdered at a young age. “She’s going to take you on a shopping spree and buy you a bunch of shit. Don’t tell her I told you. Just go with it. She has a kind heart.” She also enjoys dressing pretty people up in designer clothes. She would probably have a career in fashion if she weren’t born into a mafia family.

“Yes, of course. Your sister has been really cool to me.”

“She’s your sister too.”

“Right. I keep forgetting that.”

“How long do you think your mother and sister will stay in town? They leave tomorrow. They have to go back to work.”

“Next time they want to come out to see you, I can make the arrangements. By then, you can take them around town and show them a good time. Does your sister have a car?”

“No, I drive her around. She has a license, but she doesn’t have a car.”

“Okay, so you can just give her your car and I can buy you a new one.”

“Huh?”

“What kind of car do you want?”

“You don’t have to buy me a car.”

“I can’t have you spend any of your inheritance on a car. I will get you one as a birthday present. It’s for the twenty-two birthdays I missed.”

“I have never gotten a car for a gift.”

“Find something you like and we can go pick it out next week. Valentina can help you if you’re not sure what you want.”

“For real. Why are you guys being so nice to me?”

I chuckled. She was adorable. “Because you are our sister. Do we need another reason?”

“No. I just didn’t even know I had extra brothers and sisters. I never even thought about it.”

“You know. We’re not just regular brothers and sisters. We’re rich brothers and sister.”

“Okay. So that’s a thing.”

“Yes. That’s a thing. I like your personality. I think you’re cool. I think you would look good in a Porsche. But it’s up to you. Pick what you want.”

“A Porsche. You’re not serious.”

“I am. I want to be your favorite brother and I’m willing to buy the title because some of the other brothers have better personalities than me.”

“Seriously?” She was smiling widely.

“No really. I’m Valen’s favorite and if I was yours too, I would be better than those other brothers.”

“You don’t have to buy me anything. I can just pick you.”

“That’s very sweet, and I can’t allow you to stay that way. You will get taken advantage of. See, sis, I just gave you a life lesson, just like a big brother.”

“You are so funny. See, from all the interactions I’ve had with the brothers, you are definitely my favorite so far.”

“That’s good enough for me.”

I needed to make sure to do thorough background checks on Alexis’s mother and sister. I wanted to make sure they would not blow through her money or take advantage of her. I didn’t know much about her mother, only the nurse part.
