“Here.” She handed me a paper bookmarker that had only her first name and her number on it. The nicest handwriting I’d seen in a long time. I didn’t even notice when she wrote it down. Her coworker had distracted me. I held back my smile for a second and then I couldn’t help but let it out for her.

“Thank you. Labria, I will see you later.”

“Later.” She said one word and put me on cloud nine. Her eyes burned into my heart and I knew I had to leave before I messed things up.

I grabbed the bag of books off the counter.

“You have yourself a great day.” Her coworker hummed just as I turned on my heels and walked out the store.

Chapter Three

LABRIA

This guy.

I watched him take long meaningful strides out of the store. When the coast was clear I exhaled. For a man, he was breathtaking, handsome on another level. I was sweating under my armpits the entire time he ogled me at he cash register. Thank god my perspiration hadn’t soaked through my dress. That there man had a way about him. He was persistent but he was so fine. So it didn’t come off as arrogant but more so confident.

“Oh my god. He was fine.” Brett said what I was thinking. “Tell me, hurry and tell me what happened before we get a customer. I saw you all in the back of the store with him.”

“He asked for my number. He wants to take me to dinner tonight. Well, that’s what he said.”

“You’re going out with him right?”

“I’m on the fence. I’m not sure.”

“Girl, why not?”

“I don’t know him.”

“You know a few things about this man. His name, his credit card number, and that was a Centurion Amex. His suit was Tom Ford. Mister hot guy was wearing a real Rolex. I couldn’t place his shoes but they were expensive. I could tell. Did I mention his height, his looks, his hair, his eyes?”

“You just did Brett.” I tried to not roll my eyes at all his enthusiasm for this man.

“Please go on this date so I can hear all about it.”

“He has to actually call me or text me. He may never call me.”

“Be optimistic.”

“Men love to just get your number to boost their egos. I mean, come on. Do they ever really call you?”

My cell phone vibrated in my pocket. I quickly removed it from the pocket of my dress. It was an unknown number.

“Who is it?” Brett asked with the same giddiness I had when I was in high school.

“I think its him.” I opened the text message and read it out loud. [Thanks for the books. I will text back with the restaurant address.]

Brett did a little self-contained happy dance.

“What’s his name? I hope he’s a Sagittarius. You would get along perfectly with a Sag man.”

I thought about his odd name. “His name is Lord, Lordes.”

“Seriously? That’s different.”

“Yeah, it’s on his credit card. It’s his real name.”

“It’s cute, in a I’m better than regular people type of way. I’ve never known a person named Lordes. I have no idea what it means. Let me look it up.” Brett removed his cell phone and did his searching thing.
