“It don’t matter. It’s true.”
“Nothing bad happened. I’m fine.”
“Okay, well, did you get your back blown out?”
“Yes, my back, my front, and all the sides.”
“Okay trick. That’s a good thing. Now tell me what were the red flags? Okay wait. Are you going to see this man again?”
“I don’t know.”
“Why not?”
“It’s not like I can call him. He would have to call me.”
“Does he have your number?”
“Yeah, he has my number. But I can’t make the man call me. I don’t know if it was one night stand.”
“Sounds like it was a whole weekend stand. Answer me this. Did you have a good time with this man?”
“I did. I really did.”
“So what makes you think he won’t call you?”
“I don’t know. He was nice. He was charming. He spent a lot of money on me but I really couldn’t read him.”
“So he was weird?”
“No, not at all. He was different. But different in a good way.”
“He sounds like superman.”
“Not exactly. What I do know is I’m going to be crushed if I don’t hear from him again.”
“Girl bye. He just sounds like he was good in bed.”
“He was fucking great. But that’s not it. He was just amazing.”
“I have never heard you speak about a man like this.”
“I know. I know.” I shook my head at my own words. I knew I sounded crazy as hell. But this man Lord had an affect on me. I wanted to see him again. But I had to prepare myself if I never heard a word from him again.
Khia ate all her food. Hi just picked at mine. The food was good and fresh but I had become conscious of my weight now that I had sex. Hi should have been more concerned with the unprotected sex. I still hadn’t made an appointment with the gynecologist. That was top priority for me. I also wanted to look into some form of birth control. I was too old to accidentally get knocked up. I wasn’t ready to be a mother.
My sister insisted on walking me back to the bookstore. We rolled the elevator up to the second level. We did a quick perusal the women’s clothing in Macy’s before we headed to the bookstore.
“Brett do you remember my sister?” I said to Brett as we both approached him.
“Hey Khia, looking good.”
Khia smiled. “Hey Brett.” She thought Brett was hoot. Most people found him very entertaining.
“What’s all this stuff back here?” I asked when I noticed all the stuff placed on the back counter behind the cash register.
“So when you were at lunch you received several gifts.”
“I did?” Confused, did you mean me?
