“We can do it better,” Colburn quips with a wink.

“Very funny asshole,” Haldor mutters which has Colburn winking at him in amusement.

“We will need to figure out who this woman is that he’s going after, find out where she lives and then make sure that we stake out the place for when he attacks.” Tor orders as he looks at his men before his eyes are fixed on me again. “I’m guessing you can’t give us an address?”

“No, sorry.” I say, “but she lived on some kind of farm as there was a vast amount of property surrounding it.”

“Did she live by herself?” one man sitting at the end of the table asks.

“I don’t know,” I raise my hand to my forehead to stroke the hair back and behind my ear. “The Doctor had more men with him when he approached the farmhouse.”

“What does the woman look like?” Garth asks

“She has beautiful long dark brown hair, she’s petite with lush lips.” I smile when I think of the woman and how tranquil she seemed before the Doctor appeared. “Oh, I nearly forgot.” I snap my fingers as I look at Tor. “She’s blind.”

One minute I’m sitting on the chair, finally starting to relax and then all hell breaks loose. Haldor is suddenly lifting me off the chair and dragging me back towards the door. Tor has snapped out of his chair in a roar of rage, a roar that sends chills down my spine.

His features are tense in fury, every muscle in his body seems tense and ready to snap. A muscle is furiously ticking next to his temple, what did I say that has triggered this transformation?

HALDOR 8

The minute Tor explodes in fury I am dragging Druza back and away from danger. Only when Druza mentioned the blind woman again did I remember what was niggling at my conscious. Fuck, I hope we are wrong, because if we are not then Tor is going to burn everything in his way.

“Fuck me,” Dag growls as he opens the door for me to carry Druza out while they try to calm Tor down, a feat that I don’t envy them because I know that he won’t be calming down until he is sure that his mate is safe. I still don’t know where he finds the power to keep away from her when knowing that she’s his mate. I know that they haven’t bonded yet, that it’s easier for the woman when she doesn’t know she has a mate, or the transformation has started to make changes to her DNA.

But for him it must be hell knowing that the only woman that could transform his life, that could give him the peace that we all strive for is before him and he refuses to bond with her. I know that he has a demon driving him, something that is stopping him from bonding with his woman, and whatever that is it stops him from living the best life that he could.

“What’s going on?” Druza’s frightened whisper has me tightening my arms around her, I know that Tor wouldn’t do anything to hurt a woman, but in his rage I won’t take the chance. “What made him so angry?”

When we are a few feet away from the meeting room I lower her feet to the ground but continue to hold her close. “I think that the woman you mentioned is Tor’s mate.” I reply gently stroking her cheek.

“Oh no,” she gasps, her eyes filling with horror.

“Bring her back in here.” Tor roars which has Druza shuffling even closer to me.

“Don’t worry baby, he won’t hurt you,” I promise.

“You would never say,” she mutters sarcastically.

“What’s going on?” Esmeralda asks hurrying towards us, her eyes searching behind me. “Is that Tor?”

“Druza will tell you all about it,” I suggest as I look up at Druza’s surprised expression, “baby go with Esmeralda, and I will come and find you as soon as I can.” Glancing at Esmeralda I raise a brow in question.

“Oh, of course, come on sugar you must be so frightened, I know how terrifying they can be when they lose control.” She takes Druza’s hand pulling her to walk behind her, Druza looks back at me in question but I smile and nod, hoping that it will somehow calm her fears. Fuck, I am going to have to go in there, I know he will lose his shit when he sees that my woman isn’t with me, but I couldn’t give a fuck, he has frightened her enough for today.

Walking back inside I close the door behind me, Tor is on the floor with Garth, Ulrich and Eirik trying to hold him down. Colburn and Dag are moving the chairs out of the way, I see two of them have already been smashed.

“I still don’t understand what has ignited his rage, why the fuck did he lose his shit?” Colburn asks as he comes to stand next to me. I haven’t told a soul about what Tor revealed to me a few months ago, I believe that if he wanted others to know he would tell them.

“Let go of me,” he roars.

“Maybe it’s better if we knock him out.” I suggest as I approach the others as they struggle to hold Tor down.

“What do you think we are trying to fuckin…” Ulrich’s muttering is interrupted by one of Tor’s fists to his cheek. “Shit! motherfucker, hold his fucking arms.” Kneeling I grab his swinging arm, he is like a raging bull, the only way to calm him is by knocking him out or tying him up and leaving him until he calms.

“I will go and make sure that she is fine,” I say close to his ear, his head snaps around, his eyes are filled with bloodlust, but I can see in his eyes that he understood what I said. “Do you hear me; I will go or if you calm down you can go yourself.” There is another loud roar but then his body goes limp and all we hear is the heavy breathing from all of us.

Holding one of us down is not easy when we don’t want to be held down, holding one of us down in a bloodlust is near to impossible. “Does he know…” Colborn starts to ask but I shoot him a withering look which has him snapping his mouth shut.
