I am about to sit and start to recount the past few days when I hear motorcycles. “Oh, the men are back.” Violet cries as she turns to hurry back outside. I don’t wait for them to come inside, instead I follow Violet in a hurry to see Haldor and feel his arms around me again.
When I walk outside his back is to me as he says something to Dane and then he turns. Our eyes meet and I can see the same excitement in his eyes as I am sure is in mine. I want to run and throw myself at him, but instead I hold my place waiting for him to reach me. I am feeling nervous, now that he is back, I don’t know how I should approach him.
He strides towards me, before I can say anything he is sliding his hand around my waist and pulling me tight against him, his head lowers as his other hand cups my cheek and his lips are devouring mine in a magical sharing of our feelings. Missing each other even though for such a short time it still feels like I am home when his kiss makes me forget everyone and everything around me.
I don’t know how long we stand in the parking lot kissing, but when Haldor finally pulls away everyone has gone inside leaving us outside. “Miss me?” Haldor asks with a grin as he starts guiding me inside.
“I think I missed you as much as you missed me” I quip which has him squeezing my side in amusement.
“What have you been doing in my absence?” Haldor questions as we step inside the bar area to see that most of the men have gone to their rooms with their mates. The only one still in the bar area is Asgar and Colborn.
“Hey Bro, I hear you got the fucker,” Colborn calls which has Haldor tensing besides me as he replies.
“Yes, but the asshole is still breathing. We will wait for Tor to start questioning him.”
“You found the Doctor?” I ask, looking up at Haldor to see his lips pulled tight in anger.
“Yes, he won’t be hurting anyone else anymore.” I can’t say I’m sad that the Doctor will be stopped, but I am worried that if they do anything they will be imprisoned. “Have you heard from Dag or Tor yet?” Haldor asks looking at the two men.
“No, I have tried to call but they haven’t replied,” Asger says.
“Do you know where they took her?” Colborn asks.
“She wouldn’t make it to Nature Valley for Bion to treat her, I think they went to the closest hospital.” Haldor explains.
“What happened?” I ask, my vision didn’t show the woman getting hurt.
“Tor’s woman got shot,” Asger’s reply has me gasping in surprise.
“Oh no, I didn’t see the Doctor hurting her,” I gasp.
“It wasn’t the Doctor; it was one of the men that was shooting at us, he caught her in the crossfire.” Haldor explains as he kisses my forehead in comfort. Just then Ceric walks into the bar area, a scowl adorning his face.
“You here,” Haldor calls, “I didn’t know you had already arrived.”
“Too busy snogging your woman I think.” Ceric quips but the amusement on his voice does not reach his face.
“What’s up?” Colborn asks noticing his mood.
“Esme is sick, I have just phoned Bion but he is asking me to take her temperature, is there a thermometer in this place?”
“There should be one in the medicine cabinet, I’ll go see for you.” Colborn offers making his way inside.
“I’ll come with you” Ceric states as he follows him inside.
“I thought Elementals don’t get sick.” I ask as the women explained that when we mate with the elementals our immune system starts to change, strengthening to keep us as healthy as them.
“We don’t, but Esme even though born to an Elemental is a girl, her immune system isn’t as robust yet as she is still young.” Haldor explains as he guides me inside towards our room.
“Oh, should I go and see if Nova needs any help?” I have always prepared natural poultices and syrups for my community when someone was ill. I might be able to help if we know what’s wrong with her.
Haldor strokes my cheek with his thumb as we enter the room, a smile on his lips. “You’re a gentle soul, aren’t you, my Angel!” he says pulling me back into his arms as he closes the bedroom door behind us. “Ceric has already contacted Bion, he is our healer. Bion will tell them how to heal Esme.” I have heard about Bion, apparently, he isn’t just a healer but a miracle worker as he has cured a few human illnesses with his research.
The more I hear about the Elementals the more impressed I am, on the outside they seem like a group of dangerous, rough men, but there is so much more to them then what meets the eye. “I want to show you how much I missed you.”
His hands are stroking my back as his fingers slide under the hem of my t-shirt, his gaze filled with passion as he looks deep into my eyes. He groans as I run my fingers down his back, I feel him suddenly stiffen as there is a knock on the door. “Fuck off” he snaps to whoever is on the other side of the door which has me giggle at his look of frustration.
The knock comes again joined by a scowl from him, “I’m going to kill him,” he says menacingly as he snaps around to thrust the door open.
