She was going to have a talk with her bestie.

“I think it’s time we head to the hospital, Max.”

His eyes widened and she expected him to freak out. Instead, the announcement of her labor seemed to calm him.

“Okay, we have the go bag in the car.” He took her by the arm and led her out of the office. Freddy, her new manager, walked up to them. A father of two, he must have read her expression because his eyes widened.

“Freddy, I think you are now officially in charge.” But even Anna heard the panic seeping into her voice.

“Don’t worry, boss. I’ll take care of this baby.”

She smiled and almost started crying. Freaking hormones.

Soon, they were in the car and on their way to the hospital.

“We got this, love,” Max said.

She glanced over at him. Every emotion she could possibly feel slammed into her. Love, panic, and excitement brought tears to her eyes. Those milk chocolate eyes she loved softened as he took her hand.

“Together, we can handle anything, right?”

As tears spilled over and streamed down her face, she nodded. “Always.”

After ten hours of labor,in which Anna called Max every name in the book and threatened his dick numerous times, Aaron Matthew Chandler came into this world screaming his irritation five minutes after midnight.

Max smiled as he shut the door to their room. Their parents had stuck it out through all of it and had just left. He looked down at Aaron. Swaddled in a hospital blanket, he slept in Max’s arms. He was perfect.

“Don’t get all emotional again,” Anna said from the bed. Her eyes were closed, but there was a smile curving her lips.

“You like it when I get emotional,” he said, as he approached the bed. He sat next to her as she opened her eyes. “And I think this is one of those nights that getting emotional is warranted. You’ve given me everything I could ever want. Love, happiness, and now this perfect little human.”

“Max,” she said, as tears filled her eyes. The sight didn’t freak him out as much as it had earlier in the pregnancy.

“So, you are no longer going to threaten me… or my dick.”

She had the good grace to flush. “I don’t remember doing that.”

He chuckled. “You screamed it.”

“Lies.”

“Three times.”

She smiled and shook her head.

“You need to rest.”

“Iamtired. Are you staying tonight?”

He nodded. “Not getting rid of me now, woman.”

Leaning down to brush his mouth over hers. “I love you.”

“I love you, too, Maxwell.”

After placing their son in the bassinet, he settled in the chair next to the bed. “Rest, love.”
