We don't kill either her, or Bernardino, yet. I want at least one more session to make sure we've gotten everything out of them. Sometimes the second or third rounds of interrogation are more effective than the first because of the cessation of pain only to be followed by a renewed, more concentrated effort on an already weakened body and mind.
Tomorrow, I will see how she responds to electric jolts.
I want nothing more than to go home to Anna, but the secondary site has to be secured and the bioweapons destroyed. I can't trust that to anyone else.
It's dawn and six more people are dead when I'm done. All members of the Kicks Bandidos. Or maybe just the cartel. I don't give a fuck.
They are dead. Their biological weapons are incinerated and I'm ready to go home.
Since I'm covered in blood, I stop at Lucky Charm to take a shower and collect Connor.
I don't want to scare Anna.

We're in the armored SUV on the way to the Doyle building when I finally check in on Anna. She's sitting up in our bed, doing something on her phone. Her eyes are red rimmed from lack of sleep.
She jolts and stares into the camera on the phone, like she can feel my eyes on her.
I text her.
Me:On my way home, have to drop Connor off at his parents' house first.
Anna:Bring him to his apartment. He has someone waiting for him.
What the hell does that mean? But I tell my driver to take us straight to the Doyle Building.
Me:Okay.
Anna:Mrs. Hart and Ini are sleeping in the guest room.
Me:?
Anna:I wanted them safe last night.
She knew something big was going down and she didn't ask me to stay home, or for details. She's so damn perfect for me.
She also didn't sleep. I don't like that, but I understand it. We'll sleep together.
After I lose myself in her softness. I crave her. I fucking need her. And she is mine.

Tommy and Eoin are both awake when I let myself into the apartment. So is my girl. She's wearing one of my t-shirts, her pretty blond hair a messy halo around her face and her violet eyes fixed on me.
"You're okay," she breathes and launches herself at me.
Wrapping my arms around her, I lift and her legs lock on either side of my hips. Her mouth slams onto mine and I kiss her back with all the relief and passion she's showing me.
Several cleared throats, and, "Uh, Boss," comments later, I lift my head.
Connor is listing to one side, but he's still standing. "I'm going home."
"Yeah, about that. Your kid and that Elliott guy is there, so maybe be quiet going in," Tommy says.
Connor's kid? What the actual fuck?
"Lachlan stopped by to check everything was good when he got in earlier. We'll get some shuteye at his place," Eoin says.
