When we get to the Lucky Charm, Connor and Arlo go directly to the Salon to wait. Ronan is in his upstairs office. His eyes widen fractionally when he sees Anna with me, but he doesn't say anything.
"Anna, this is Ronan Byrne." I nod to Ronan. "Anna will be waiting in here while we are meeting."
He shrugs. Even if she snoops, she won't find anything in this office that we don't want her to see. She won't though. She's not like that.
"Ronan, do you have a minute?" Minx, a redhead that has worked for us for the past three years comes into my captain's office.
"Make it fast," I tell him. "We'll be in the salon."
The only people in the salon right now are Connor and Arlo. They take up security positions when we enter the room.
I lead Anna to a couch against the wall and she sits down, looking around. "It's like a nice living room."
I can tell she has questions she wants to ask, but she doesn't.
"What?" I ask her.
"I'm not supposed to ask about your mob business."
"If it's something I can't answer, I won't."
She smiles at that. Despite my reason for being here, that smile warms something inside me. Like it always does.
"Do the escorts…um…do they see their clients here?"
"No."
"It's a big building."
"Wardrobe takes up one third of the space on this floor, the remaining rooms are used for offices, dressing and storage."
Her brows draw together. "You tell your escorts what to wear, like a uniform?"
"They can use their own clothes sometimes, but clients who want dates for high end events expect those dates to arrive wearing current designer fashion. Some have color preferences for the outfit they want their escorts to wear." I shrug. "The clothes take up a lot of space."
However, nothing on this floor will give the cops anything to use against us. And we never have the clients serviced on the premises. Hell, some of our clients really are only looking for a plus one for some events.
"What is this room used for?" she asks.
"Our employees hang out here before going out, sometimes between dates." It's a safe place for them to wait.
"No one is here right now."
"We don't have a lot of business before lunchtime."
"People don't want sex in the morning?"
Anna's constant curiosity charms me.
"Not from a service like this. We have other places where there are workers available in rotating shifts twenty-four seven."
"You mean like a bordello?"
"We don't call them that, but yes."
"What do you call them?"
"Houses."
